Thank you Odd People for noticing this odd celebration though I don't take any special participation in it. It's just there and everywhere, in the hospitals, churches and every working place and most homes, even in the streets.

Saint Lucia's Day honors a young Christian girl, martyred in ancient Rome, who is always portrayed with her head encircled by a halo of lights. For many Swedes Lucia Day forms the gateway to the Christmas season.

Santa Lucia is the protector of eyesight.
