Well............when marriages were outlawed in ancient Rome, St. Valentine performed them in secret for young lovers. He was eventually caught and thrown in prison.  He supposedly fell in love with his jailer's daughter and sent her a letter which he signed, "From Your Valentine".  Awwwwwwwwww.....
