he revels and wriggles
and shakes his behind
and though he says not a word
tis but a few moments
until he attracts
the wily early bird
the bird stalks the worm
intending grave harm
but is blissfully unaware that
his arrival has caught
the hungry attention
of the patient early cat
with a pounce on the bird
breakfast is served
and our story is brought to term
a bird who follows that maxim
should make sure the cat's in
ere' seeking those that squirm
the bird was so yummy
the cat pats his tummy
so full and round and firm
and waves a well fed
plumpish paw
to his friend the early worm
