LOL, I bet we all have had a birthday that is more memorable than most.
Mine was when I turned 44. My wife and I and the two kids lived out in a liitle suburb of Amarillo , Texas at the time. It was a little community where everyone knew everyone . We had a country store, a gas station and even our very own volunteer fire department which just about all of us belonged .
My 44th birthday started out as one that I thought everyone had forgotten
about. The kids said nothing at the breakfast table, neither did my wife. Well I thought maybe that they were waiting till I returned from work that day to give me a card and a hearty " Happy Birthday" song.  When I came home that afternoon however still no one said anything. So my ego busted I finally said .
" Hey! Is anyone going to say happy birthday to me?" To which there was only a " Oh , yeah, happy birthday , hon,and Dad."
Well I shook my head and sat down in my easy chair muttering and trying to
console my badly bruised ego. I turned on the TV and just as I was just about to get deeply involved with " Mash" my favorite show at that time when there was a knock at the door .
Now, my wife usually was the one that jumped up and answered the door but to my dismay she said, " Honey, will you get that. It might be your folks . I think they were going to come out this evening see you."
So I lumbered out of my easy chair, and slowly walked over to the door  and opened it. To my surprise here stood not only my Mom and Dad and my Sister but the entire Volunteer Firedepartment outfitted in Fireman's hats  and boots, and slickers and they were holding a fire hose that they had unfurled from the Fire Truck. Yes! Even the Fire Truck was there.  The reason that they were holding the fire hose was because of the cake my Mom and Dad were holding completely ablaze with 44 candles.
I never laughed so hard in my life. After everyone stopped laughing and singing the most ugly singing of Happy Birthday I ever heard here came the firemen's wives with food upon food upon food. We had a great time and that was my most memorable Birthday.
    How about telling us yours?

Thats a funny story! mines not..but here it is..a *milestone* birthday story:

I hate very large parties..see them as a chore to be endured rather than a fun way to get to socialize with pals.I prefer more intimate settings..dinner parties, lunches and restaurant dates with groups of friends are PERFECT for me.

So..for my 40th last year..instead of the big blow out bash most of my pals either had or eagerly plan to have..I arranged for lots of  small gatherings with sets of friends pretty much all the  2 weeks surrrounding my birthday..,lunches with some, dinners with others..out to a few restaurants too..some simply stopped by my house with stuff to drink and prezzies. My online pals made it fun too, sweet  colourful posts in my honour..I even met one in RL who has a birthday around the same time as mine and we met in NYC and went out together.

Well , that might have been a funny story noo, but it was an interesting way to celebrate your birthday. I bet you had a lot of fun and while mine only lasted one day look at you, you enjoyed yours for several days with some great friends.

Ya' know DDD, I can't possibly top your birthday story, LOL! But I did have a birthday that was somewhat memorable...Not that I can tell ya' how old I was nor the year, but I do remember the party. It was quite a few years back when my hubby and I lived in Nawlins'...He and I have a dear friend, Maggie, who still lives there.  For her birthday in April, we all threw her a party.  It was a great party as well as any party can be. At the end of the party, my hubby and I stayed to clean up her home. It was then when we started talking about birthday parties in general. Maggie and my hubby started reminicingabout the birthday parties that they had in the past. They asked me if I had any birthday party that I was particularly fond of and I had to answer..."I've never in my life had a birthday party." "You never had a birthday party?" they asked. "No," I said..."never." And then my hubby and I went home. Well, my birthday is in November. On the weekend of my birthday that year, I had to babysit another friend's twin boys because she was going out of town. Whenever I would get the boys settled in bed, I would call home to talk to my hubby. I did find it quite strange that Maggie was there all weekend, but never thought that my hubby was "messing around" with one of our best friends. I would call at 2:00 a.m.  because I could not sleep and wanted to talk with my hubby and Maggie seemed to be there too! He told me that she was there because her hubby was out at sea and she was afraid to be alone by herself. Her hubby it turned out, was at sea at the time. Upon returning home on the Sunday of my birthday, Maggie volunteered to pick me up from my other friends house. Nothing seemed unusual for a Sunday afternoon in my neighborhood when I arrived...But as I walked through the door, it seemed as if 100+ people yelled "HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" at me. My hubby and Maggie had been planning for a very long time to arrange the only birthday party in my life. It was indeed, a GREAT SURPRISE!

I don't remember alot of my childhood for some reason, I don't know why. I assume I would've had parties. However, I do remember 1 quite vividly. The year I turned 21. I had to work (at that time I worked 12-14 hours a day, 6-7 days a week at the newspaper) all the girls in my dept (there was about 12 of us all around the same age! What a blast!) started the day off at 6 am with coffee on my drafting table and breakfast. Then they got pizzas for me with the pepperonis saying "21". Then after work we went over to the bar behind work and ordered me a couple drinks. They didn't want to serve me, they didn't believe I was that old (and they still don't!). After a while, I think they just got tired of arguing with 12 girls LOL. I went home and my girlfriend and roommate Deb had gotten together with like 8 or 10 of my other girlfriends and rented us a limo for the night to go club hopping. The limo driver was so nice, we invited her to come in and play pool with us. We went all over town and had so much fun. 'Course when you are 21 ~ none of the clubs make you pay for your drinks! We got home at about 3:30am. It was such a fun day! I was back to work at 6am ~ the bosses wouldn't let me have a day off, but that was cool becuz I had many stories to tell!
