I had to leave the little burg I live in Yesterday and go over to Pampa . I was gone a few hours and got back home late in the day, about 5:00 . When I drove in my drive I immeadiately noticed the door was open about half way.
When I went inside I saw a note laying on the table . It was from my next door neighbor about a quarter of a mile up the road. She is 72 and is quite the cook. She wrote in the note that she came by and saw my door was open and after knocking a few times came in. She saw no one was a round and so went about her business of getting a couple of cups of sugar for a pie she was going to make and had come by to borrow.
Just as I finished reading the note the phone rang. I anwsered it and it was my fishin' buddy Jingle Bob. He said he had drove by and saw my door was open and he knew I was out of town . He happened to think about needing a sharpshooter ( A narrow bladed shovel) and so he went out back and got mine. Of course I told him that was alright.
I had barely hung up when I heard brake squeal and went to the door to see Spooky Canova another friend of mine parked behind my pickup. I waved and walked outside to his truck and he shouted " Darn you Doodle! Do you know you left your door open today while you were gone? "
I told him yes and he said that he had saw it was open and he went through the house to be sure everything was allright. He said " By-the -way, while I was in there I saw you had quite a bit of copy machine paper . I was out so I grabbed a few. Is that alright ? "
Of coarse I told him yes and after a few other words he took off. I went inside and got myself a cup of coffee and sat down at the table. Suddenly I couldn't help chuckle to myself. All these people saw my door was open and none of them shut it. They just left it open . LOL . I thought a little more and decided I did not need to ever worry about burgulars breaking in to my place. Heck, I've got enough friends to take most everything I've got. LOL
