If you use I.E. with outlook express you already have a handy spell check for communities. Up there, in the toolbar. Just right click on mail and select new message from the drop down menu (why, o why did I not think of this before?)! Type your message as you would a letter. Spell check it, copy it and paste it in the editing box. You will have to apply all the formatting after you paste it.
Additionally, you can open a boggle game and open a new message. Then tile the two windows vertically, resize them both, and type words as you see them into the message. Then copy and paste your words into the message.
I use outlook express all the time to see how my graphics will work (keep in mind you cannot copy and paste in this instance, you have to upload from your computer using the yellow mountain icon in the message editing box). If I am thinking of using a gif for a background I open a new message, select format, then background, then picture and then insert the gif I want to use! That way I see what looks good as a background and what does not!
If you use rich text formatting in Outlook Express, you can insert a picture, switch to source code (the tabs at the bottom of the screen), insert text (that stuff I call subvirtual suggestions) then switch to preview to see if you got it right. After the image is inserted, this coding shows up in red in the source code <IMG alt="" hspace=0 , simply insert your cursor between the " " and type your message. Then click the preview tab to see the result! This is only a learning tool, to get the hang of it. You still have to upload images to communities and do the html in the editing box. You can, however, REALLY IMPRESS YOUR FRIENDS by sending e-mails with talking images!
Or do this. Learn to make hyperlinks with it. Copy the URL of your favorite site, open a message, insert a graphic or format a title, highlight it and click on the hyperlink icon (that little ball with glasses beside the mountain icon). paste your URL into that and click on insert. Next open the preview page and test it. This way you can learn without showing everyone your trials and errors!
Did I mention before that MSN technology impresses me? I use Outlook express more as an html editing tutor than I do as for e-mail!
