It finally sunk in how to make a background work again.  You have to have a tile uploaded into a photo album.  Then you right click on the photo and select properties.  There will be information there about the image, including its URL.  Copy the url, and in the table menu paste it in the background url space.  Remember, for those occassions that the image does not show to also use a background color in contrast to your font color so your words are easy to read.  For now, use my album "member's sig gifs" for uploading tiles.  Also remember, any tile you use must be from a free site or one of your own, so as to avoide copyright infringement.
