If we have to cut a tree in the winter we collect the big pieces of bark and drie them. Then we take the moss we have collected and dried and pine cones and things like that and make bird houses from them. We use a glue gun and then we hang them with leather laceing on the trees and fill by putting in bird seed .Some I make a nest in it to shelter the babys..Just make sure you keep food in them if you start one.
But you can take tallow or lard and make a thin layer of it and push seeds and nuts into it and then mold it into a shap and hang them from trees for the birds.
Also dried corn can be hung in pretty ways like wind chims and such and hung from different places for squirells
And you live where deers may show up , put our a salt lick for them. Make a small hole in the center of a tree trunk , that has been cut down and place the lick in there for them.
