O'siyo My Beloved Elder's, with great respect I ask for your wisdom. As you know I went to the Upper Skagit powwow. (when I gave Shane the drum & stick).
As I was walking back into the sacred powwow grounds I noticed something laying on the ground. You know how it is, if you see something, it automatically catches your attention. It was an Eagle Bone Whistle! I wasn't sure of what to do. My two Wolves were fighting back and forth inside of me. One Wolf was telling me that I should turn it in to the powwow M.C. and take a chance on anyone claiming ownership, and the other Wolf said that I should look at it as a reward from the Creator. I didn't want it to fall into the wrong hands, who knows, maybe that was the reason it was left there for me. I brought it home and replaced the leather and yarn that was on it with my own. Then smudged and prayed that I did the right thing. I have been using it twice a day to pray with. I wear it throughout the day and keep it in a Cedar box with wa-le-la on it. It also holds several Golden Eagle feathers in the box for it to rest on at night time. I kept the leather and yarn not really knowing what to do with it. Should I burn them or bury them, or keep them out of the respect of the previous owner?
The first few days I felt kind of guilty, then as I started to pray with it I felt more and more at ease with it. More like it was meant to be mine. Anyway, I will continue to use it to pray with everyday, twice a day.
Your thoughts on this matter are greatly appreciated.
