Sage and tobacco are offered to our Elders for their answers to our inquiries. Wado. My question here is this: Under what circumstances is it proper to offer tobacco, and when for cornmeal? Can they be used interchangeably at any time, i.e. is it proper to offer cornmeal if you have no tobacco or vice versa? |

One of the very things I do is the simple act of praying my morning tobacco prayer. Tobacco and cornmeal are very sacred so it's traditional to use them to offer prayers. The idea is to offer something of value back to the source that nourishes you unconditionally. I usally always offer tobacco but if I do not have it, I will use cornmeal. So both are proper . Thanks |
