The Lakota language is gender based. Endings for statements and questions differ between male and female speakers. I will start a list in the near future on these endings, I will also do a "kinship" chart...because male and female kinship terms are different.
As you have noticed, I have removed the Dakota language post....the reason being is...it is a different dialect then the Lakota language....the major difference is....in Dakota...the "t's" become "d's"....as minor as this sounds....it does confuse many people.
I will start by saying many today use the term "aho" very loosely. This term is a male term and women generally do not use it.
Also, in ending a question....men use the term hwo (hah-whoa) women use the ending he (hay)...these words are basically saying...."I am a man asking you a question"...."I am a woman asking you a question" , respectfully.
I hope that this start helps those wanting to learn the language. Any questions, please ask....it is a great way to learn.
