I think it a most lovely and thoughtful gift, for a new child, as lovely as the custom of singing a child into the world
Funny, but I never had an appreciation for poetry, song, or prayer, (to me these can be very similar) before I came here.
Maybe I simply don't have understanding of most poetry I read, but I find that those I like the best, are the simplest and most direct, that convey human emotions, such as love, gratitude, joy, welcome, etc., and even sometimes those that convey things less happy, because I think pain is part of life, it is a catalyst, and gets our attention. It also makes the sweet things in life, sweeter. Maybe this is why good things often come at cost? Of course, some good things, like poetry, are freely given as beautiful gifts, their thoughts and words strung like multicolored jewels.
I thank you for the poetry, Annie, and for the others who've shared their own, and that of others, here.
