On this day in 1868, The U.S. Treaty with the Navajo was ratified. It was signed by several tribal chiefs including Chief Manueito and Barboncito. It established boundaries and land ownership for the tribe and was approved nearly 5 years after Kit Carson's campaign of forced surrender began.
