Soap Plants..
Many plants contain substances known as saponins..glycosides that have a distint foaming characterastic. This word comes from plant 'saponaira ..or as we call it "soapwort". Nature makes her own herbal soaps.
Soap Pod Trees.... These pods are used as a herbal hair wash or a mild detergent to clean silkwool fabrics. Dreid Pods are ground and sold as soap or soap powder.
Ceanothus or "Bluebush"...this is used at a wedding as part of the ceremont the bride and groom shampoos each others hair.
Soap Lily or Soap Plant... we use this flower for washing the body and clothes with the outer coating of bulb, crushing it and mixing it with water.
Mock Orange is a fragrant plant that we rubbed the flower together with water for a fragrant soap
Soap Bark tree... this is used by the women as laundry soap.//can be mixed with alcohol and used as a herbal shampoo and is said to stimulate hair growth.
Soap Berry plant was used as a liquid soap... the rind od the small yellow berries is ground up with water. Women claimed it will beautify the skin.
Yucca..... Many species of yucca contain saponins in the root and leaves. Since the molicules has fat soluable and water soluble it makes an excellent soap and shampoo and used by native americans,,
(and me,,,used it as a kid...lol grandpa washed my hair...it was great.))))
