Lonely Star
Long quiet day
Sickness, dragging spirit
Facing the yet longer lonely night
I'm only to look for that one star
That one lonely star in this mass of light
The one who would keep me company tonight
I lay here on my back, looking at widespread sky
My lonely soul, gaining no solace
From the moon shining so bright
Gently blowing breeze, animating shadows
Strings of white golden ribbons
Seeming to tease and harass the old moon
Poor moon locked in place, standing still in the night
Ribbons dancing and swaying about
I sing my prayer song
As I did as a child
"Twinkle twinkle little star"
But I can't find you where you are
It always worked when I was young
Even now grown, I still hold in my heart
" . . . how I wonder what you are"
Lying here upon my back
Scents of the wafting flowers of late fall bloom
I dream of being up so high
To reach the stars, sit upon the moon
And dance a ballet with the clouds
Come to me my lonely star
Help me start my journey?.
