On May 31, Tye Blanton was born seven weeks premature and has been in nicu at Memorial Mission Hospital. His father, Trooper Shawn Blanton, the first Cherokee to become a State Trooper, was gunned down in a routine traffic stop on June 17, barely two weeks after his son's earily arrival. Trooper Blanton was 24 years old.



Tye has been in critical condition since birth. However, yesterday, Tye's condition worsened and he had to be placed on life support.
