What powerful words and how true they are. I feel the urgency to share a dream with you -
In 1993 I had this dream and some elements have already come true in my life:
I was at the Shinnecock Indian Reservation (in my dream) back home in NY where I grew up - in my dream I had driven there and was at the center of the business area (there were three main buildings and open area for the road - all in a circle) to the east of me was the Community Center, to the north was the medical services, to the west was a church and to the south the opening to the main road and just further south of that were homes. I saw a native elder sitting on the back of his truck between the Community Center and the medical building and he was wearing a red bandanna and some old but descent clothes, the motioned to me to come to him and we spoke for awhile, as we were speaking we had changed directions slightly and were standing directly in front of the medical building when I heard the roar of lion coming from the south and it was coming straight towards.... I quickly drew a circle around myself and the elder gave a necklace he was wearing (a medicine pouch) and told to me to wear it, - the lion began to walk around the circle clockwise, then turned around and walked counter-clockwise and laid down in front of the medical building - it was then that I noticed he had been injured - he had several porcupine quills stuck in his left hind quarter near his hip joint - I asked the elder if he could get some milk and I mixed the milked with some herbs and made a sedative for the lion to drink and I quickly pulled out the quills - at that moment the lion jumped up with a mighty roar and fell backwards on my butt into the circle.. the elder waited for a minute and told me to get back up and to come outside the circle now for it was safe, the lion then stayed close by side and I then understood that it did not mean to hurt me, but was asking for his own pain to be healed - I pet the lion as we began to change directions again and were moving towards the northwest - then I heard the cry of an eagle coming towards us from the north, flying over some dense trees and it came to me - I put out my arms and it landed on my arms - I noticed the eagle had been badly scarred and has obviously fallen into some sort of fight for it's life and it had broken one wing - it was injured pretty badly - I asked the elder if we could give the eagle some meat and I feed the eagle, the eagle some meat, the eagle then looked at me at took off flying away towards the west directly into the sun - I began to cry and the elder spoke to me clearly asking me why was I crying - I responded that animals go away to die and that I was upset that the eagle had left in the condition she was in and that I felt that she was going to die soon....also that I did not understand how she could fly in the first place being that she had only one wing that was working properly and that she was so bloody and torn, the elder said to me "she flies by grace" - ; the elder and I continued to talk as we continued our journey - we were no closer to the church almost inside the church to the west with the lion still at my side when I saw the eagle coming back - she came straight toward me as the closer she got the bigger she was and stronger and fully recovered - she stood in front of me, put her wings around me (my head) and embraced me - when she let go - there were four feathers in my hair - all were white with black tips - three were the same size and one was small - the lion and eagle were now facing each other near me and the eagle went under the body of the lion and became one with the lion - so that the two animals were now one - a winged lion with the eyes (vision) of the eagle - the elder came up to me and took the four feathers from hair and laid them in my hands - he told me the feathers represented children - three would live to full maturity and the small one would be most precious to me would not live to maturity - then he instructed me to remove the medicine pouch and he poured that in my hand also. In it was a turquoise stone and some herbs - I woke up at that point.
Since having that dream - I enlisted in the US Air Force - I left my community and was trained to become a medic - after leaving the military I moved to Colorado - while here in Colorado I found my real (birth) father's family for whom I had been searching since just after that dream - I found a wonderful native american church in Denver that I try to attend - and I am now back working for the Air Force as a civilian and sponsoring some families at Wounded Knee - helping them out with food and other neccesities when I can. I have two children now (almost lost the younger one before he was born) after being by several doctors that I couldn't have any - and so the dream continues to fulfilled in many ways even today.
I am curious about a few details in the dream - I have some questions about who the elder might be (maybe my birth father?) he died before I got to meet the family or him, and I was told that I have the sign of the rainbow in my left cornea (eye) after having been blind and receiving my sight back after much prayer to Wakan (the Great Spirit/GOD). I having a series of dreams lately that are keeping me up at night and not able to concentrate very well as the are completely taking up my thoughts - all are related to native american themes - about a past life I have seen and the life I now have and what steps I am supposed to take - in these dreams I keep telling Wakan that I am afraid that if I go back in that direction that I will lose my family (children) because I do not see them in these dreams - I am alone for awhile then with someone other than my present spouse.... there are details that I can't say - but I can tell you Geronimo is in these dreams...
Let me know what your thoughts are....
