Thought I'd put this is anyway: Returns and disappearances!

For storyline reasons, last week wrapped up Alexandra Chando's very successful two-year stint as Maddie on As the World Turns, which won her an Emmy nomination. The actress, who originated the role of Henry's quirky little sister in July 2005, will last air on Oct. 26th when Maddie heads off to college. There are no plans to recast the role at this time.

Kenneth Franklin, who took over the role of Dallas Griffin from Duane McLaughlin in February of this year, has been replaced by Wole Parks. His first air date is November 14. This is the third actor to tackle this role in a short, less than 2-year time span.

Kelley Menighan Hensley (Emily) returns to Oakdale after a three-month maternity leave on Wednesday, October 24. Look for Chris Hughes to tag not too far behind.

Wally Kurth (ex-Ned, General Hospital) will begin a brief stint in Oakdale very soon. The latest word is that the character Kurth is set to portray is named Sam, however, no airdate had been released at press time.

Meg is dealt a shocking blow on Friday, October 19. Remember, she recently slept with both Paul and Craig but "Her heart is with Paul," insists Marie Wilson (Meg).... On Tuesday, October 23, a heartbroken Lily tells Lucinda that she fears her marriage may be over.

Brad learns Carly isn't dying. Jack agrees to buy the house with Katie but says he can't move in with her because he'll be living with Carly. Jack tells the kids he's moving in. Carly draws Jack into a kiss, and the two begin to make love. Will tells Katie that Jack and Carly are in Montana. Post-lovemaking, Jack embraces a content Carly, then is swept by guilt as he looks at his wedding ring. Gwen, Will and Ali go to the hospital for the egg transplant. When Paul snaps at Rosanna, she wonders if he still wants to get married. Paul is committed to breaking it off with Rosanna, but he urges Meg to be patient with him. Noah asks if Luke wants him to be his boyfriend, and Luke says he'd like that. Luke doubts he'll get better, but Noah urges him to try. When Lily says Holden is always angry with her, he agrees and says maybe they shouldn't live together anymore.

In life, the spectrum moves back and forth quickly from joy and sadness to love and hate. Jack and Carly experience the former, despite the fact that Carly is well aware the abscess on her brain is one hundred percent curable. She knows she should be honest with Jack, but her heart keeps telling her to hold onto him for as long as she can and so the couple returns to Montana (where their romance first began!) and things quickly become passionate. The truth will eventually come out and it is doubtful that Jack will want to stay with Carly after she single-handedly duped him and ruined his marriage to Katie. The question is not whether or not Jack will fly off the handle upon learning the truth, but how hard?

Elsewhere, Meg continues to be caught in the middle of Paul and Craig’s war. After much contemplation and sincere bravery, she finally declares her love for Paul. Instead of receiving an immediate reaction, she is made to await his response. Poor Meg! Will her feelings be reciprocated?

The Snyder clan is having a rough go of things. Luke’s accident at the hand of the Colonel may have joined Holden and Lily together briefly, but soon reality sets in and the two make a drastic decision about their marriage. A divorce filing appears imminent. Meanwhile, Luke and Noah move closer to one another than they’ve ever been when the duo takes a significant step in their relationship. Will they finally be able to express their love openly on the streets of Oakdale? Find out whose heart will be broken and whose will pound for joy this week on As The World Turns!

God is alive and so is the Virgin Mary!!!! Good Christian that I am, I am NOT making fun of God, but believing the only way that Meg is pregnant is through divine intervention!!!

Hmmm, I would ponder that the actress in question could possibly be either Rosanna or Carly.

The writers have totally devalued Rosanna's return by putting her in the this ridiculous and preschool triangle between Craig, Meg, and Paul. And omg, what they're doing to Carly is so unbelievably stupid! The writers have taken her to a totally new low by having her lie to her family about 'dying' just to win back a man! Although I must admit, I'm kind of looking forward to the fall out!

What's that about????

I think "Leelee" hit it on the head. It's either Carly (I do have my doubts about that) or Cady. More probable would be Cady because she makes a habit of hopping from one soap to another. If they're not catering to her whims then she leaves. I really think she's unhappy at ATWT. If Hunt Block was still there, even tho they've broken up in real life, I think she would stay. There was a spark between them and they played off each other well.

What's with the rumor that MW is pregnant?? In real life??

So if Carly ends up preg. in the storyline we can assume that Jack will be the father?

I wish Meg's shocking blow would be that she gets to the hospital and they inform her:

Mrs. Montgomery, we told you 15 yrs. ago that you couldn't have children!!

Allison, you are sooo funny!! I think they'll tell her that they left a partial ovary inside and figured they wouldn't tell her that she had a 1 in a million chance!!!!

Lisa, I agree about Roseanna, they are ruining her with this story. She has so much more potential than this. What a complete waste.

Ok, this Carly story is really making me upset. I hate what they are doing to our characters. Carly and all her wrongdoings would not do this, lie about dying. I am unhappy that they once again will have huge falling out (Jack and Carly) and here we go again. I think this time, though, Katie and Brad will get heavily involved. That is what I am hoping, because I can't stand Katie and Jack.

Comings & Goings:

Sandra Lee (Herself) As previously reported, the host of Food Network’s SEMI-HOMEMADE COOKING WITH SANDRA LEE is a special guest on Oakdale Now! She’ll be interviewed by Katie & Brad about Halloween treats on October 18^th.

Wole' Parks (Dallas Griffin): This actor becomes the 3^rd to take on the role of missing in action Jessica’s nephew, replacing Kenneth Franklin. His first air date is November 14th. (Lynn also found this tidbit out about the actor: He was arrested in 2006 for killing a 25 year old in New York while driving drunk �?no clue what this new guy looks like)

Chauntee' Schuler (Bonnie McKechnie): Jessica’s daughter, Bonnie, returns to help out Holden on November 5^th. Napiera Danielle last played the role from 2001 �?2003 and again in 2004,when Bonnie was released from jail and promptly moved to Florida to be with Isaac. Schuler, who starred in the national tour of The Lion King, competed on The Today Shows “Today Throws A Wedding�?with her now husband last year.

Dying on soaps is naturally a quiet melodramatic affair �?where one can be stricken, for instance, with an inoperable brain lesion that will assuredly (treatments be dammed) result in death in less then a few months time. Maura West first handled that devastating news with Carly’s stubborn determination. Burying her head in her hands, she blurted out a strong of “mo, no, no, no’s�?before standing up to pace, regroup and demand answers from the Dr. SO, what do we do? There’s a wedding…�?.she started chocking herself with a giggle and a sob �?this is a very bad time for this! But when he clarified that there was literally no hope, Carly �?who we’ve always known as a scrappy, fight to the end death kind of woman == reacted with absolute, unfamiliar bewilderment. Adversity, she face’s faced, in spades! That there was nothing at all she could do to save herself was something new.

It would take the week (at least) to burn through her emotions: defiance, embarrassment, guild, self pity, confusion, fear. She hit all of those in a single scene at the policestation after her latest collapse, as she leaned on unlikely confidante Brad. And West let the fact of her mortality wash over Carly again and again. Sinking slowly under the bathtub water wanly fixating on the ticking clock that mocked her wherever she went. Staring at the dark ceiling of her lonely hospital room; melting into the oblivious Jack chaste peck on the cheek and clinging to his friendly embrace like it might well be their last.

Carly finally took control by accepting that she’d lost it. A strange decision, one that might even seem foolish in the real world where medicine isn’t perhaps so absolute, but West got to us anyway, making it seem heartbreakingly, like the only realistic choice someone with Carly’s strength and bravery had left.
