Please answer with one of the options below.  No extraneous information is required.

If you have watched seasons 1-3 in their entirety, and a small part of season 4, is it necessary to watch all of season 4 before watching season 5?

A. Yes.  Must watch Season 4 or you won't understand anything going on in Season 5.

B. Yes and No. There are some things you won't understand but you'll pick up on them fairly quickly.

C. No and Yes.  You don't need to watch Season 4 to start Season 5 but you should watch Season 4 eventually.

D. No. Don't bother with Season 4.  It wasn't worth watching.  Just get going with Season 5 and chuck the Season 4 episodes.

Please as many people as possible answer.  We want to do a 24athon tonight and I don't know which to do.

TIA,

 ~RondaB

Ronda, my personal opinion would be to choose option A. Yes. Must watch Season 4 or you won't understand anything going on in Season 5.

I must add though that I think if you didn't watch Season 4, you would be okay with watching season 5. But IMO Season 4 is the best one thus far and a lot of it is carrying over onto Season 5.  It really isn't necessary to watch seasons 1-3 in order to understand, but I would recommend watching Season 4.  It's great.

Hope this helps.

Ronda, I also vote for option A. There are some things from season four that are referenced right off the bat in season five.

To me, season four is a must-see.

Karin,

If you're seeing scenes with President Palmer's WIFE in them, I'm pretty sure that you're watching season three, not season four.

Ronda, you can watch "24" without having seen the prior seasons, but I think it'll be a more enjoyable viewing experience for you if you watch the show in sequence. (That's what I did. I watched seaons one through four of "24" in 2005 thanks to NetFlix, and then I tuned into "24" live for the first time in 2006).

Just my $.02.
Taryn

Hi folks -

Thanks for your opinions.  Some of you seemed to have missed the fact that we've seen all of 24 except for season 4.  We decided to start watching season 4, 'cause as DH put it, otherwise we never would.  We are going to do 4 hour marathons each weekend to get it finished.

Someone said that you can watch season 4 without seeing the previous ones, but from what I've seen so far (we are 10 hours in now), that's not true.  A lot of the back history is important and they don't explain it - primarily Tony, Jack/Tony, Tony/Michele.  So if anyone is reading this wondering wheter to rent/buy/watch season 4 as your first one, you should definitely see season 3 first.

Still not seeing yet how season 4 is the best season yet.  Hopefully it will get better cause right now it's pretty formulaic.  See you in the season 5 thread eventually.

I guess what I was referring to is that there isn't a lot of information from seasons 1 through 3 in season 4.  I do agree that season 4 has a lot that runs over into season 5.  I really likes season 4.

I like this season so far, too.

OK...now I'm confusing myself.  I mean there isn't a lot of seasons 1 through 3 that come into play in season 5...the current season.
