We're getting rain today and how I wish all other parts of the country would have the same.... no snow, ice or severe weather.
On the local TV station was an interview with the life guards who officially went on duty today..
Shots of the beach with sunbathers, probably filmed yesterday, and you can bet not many of the bathers would be natives.... There was a red flag flying but still people swimming in the Gulf.... brrrrrr as I know that water would be chilly.
Check in and we can keep up with each other, the good, the bad and the ugly.... Too2

before the hurricane this used to be a pretty tree and I saved this piece from part of the root that was covered when the oak fell on it...
Today I saw that all my roses have not only buds galore but flowers starting to opem all the way... and it smells so nice out there with the Gardina's and roses... still waiting for the Jasmine and that is beyond belief the beautiful fragrance..
Come on rain...  are you stuck in Oklahoma? Florida needs you

Wow, beauty blooms out of tragedy. I'm glad that you were able to save it. Is that a Wisteria? It's pretty.
That rose may be a variety of a Peace rose.. but there are so many types I can't keep track. I would love some roses, but there isn't any point in planting now since we have to move.. I still don't know where we are moving, or when, just know we have to soon... so I guess I'll have to wait til next spring for roses... something to look forward to.

Those pictures are so pretty and that rose is more than awesome.  My favorites are those frangrant flowering types of trees and bushes...I don't think there's anything more heavenly.....well...maybe except macaw and zon smells.

I sure hope you find yourself a new home soon, Erika.....I can only imagine the stress your under.  Maybe the next home will be nicer and a keeper one too.

We're still getting rains...the drizzly kind.  I think snow flurries are called for about Weds.  Not gonna warm up again for a while.  Makes it miserable when we don't see the sun for days and weeks.  I'm feeling better after a horrible day yesterday.  Tired though...so not doing much but cleaning the birdy durls cages and vacuuming tex hair and dirt all of us are dragging in.

We drove back on I10 tonight and there was a few sprinkles... the birds were so excited and out they went to take a shower...
Unfortunately by the time I found the camera it had almost stopped.. I still managed to get General and Augusta having a time of it..

Awwww ... I love both pictures, but particularly the second one with, is it Augusta? hanging upsidedown with wings spread out, and general with wings out and feathers all ruffled!

Gee whiz, Feathers, look at your birds feet. That's Hang Eight.

Too, those pics are wonderful. That rose is a dream.

My wisterias are vines, not trees, and are way out of control. Hubby chopped on one last year so part of it is dead as a doornail and the rest is blooming.
I only take closeups cause the vines look so awful.
I have two rose buds almost open. Lots of tight buds.
Annie

Good morning from The Princess in Boston.  Raining here, too, but I'm grateful:  it could very well be snow.

A question:  why does a twenty-nine-year-old, probably female green-cheek Amazon fly off a perch and deliberately try to whack me in the head?  This has been going on for a long time, especially when I handle certain items she thinks are "hers".  I've gotten pretty good at ducking, but she still gets me from time to time.  Does anyone have a clue about this behavior?  It's a year-round thing.

Also, she goes into a biting frenzy in the morning when I'm getting her food ready.  This is a fairly recent (less than a year) behavior.  It's a little annoying because she seems to be interested in biting my shoulders right where the incisions were for shoulder surgery.

Any advice would be gratefully appreciated.

Barbara

Feel free to brag. No matter what species of rose it is, it's truly spectacular. So far, all we have here are a few brave crocus in bloom, but it won't be long.

I'm starting my seeds for outdoor planting this week. All fairly easy stuff but hours of enjoyment for me.

I always considerd when an Amazon flew at me intentionally it was jealousy, even though all I may have been carrying around was the remote for the TV...
But that is one bird in particular... a Green cheek Amazon
Barbara I do feel for you as I too have had to duck before I realized Scarlet actually wanted to land on me as the others did who flew to me.
Scarlet nips at my clothing, wearing holes on the shoulders and neck and this can drive me insane so I pull at my clothing and throw him off balance....
Scarlet flies at my son, not too him, and can be pretty hateful... again jealousy...
Not very helpful I'm afraid .... also do me a favor as this is an interesting subject...
can you start a new post on this subject... just cut and paste...thanks...

We've had a strange morning... sun comes out and we get a few sprinkles of rain...
Clouds pass over and the sprinkles stop....

All I want to do is get outside to putter about and play with the birdies for a while...

So much flowering on the Azaleas is gone making a red carpet under the bushes and the Wisteria also lost lots of flowers...a purple carpet there...
we must have had a decent rain fall during the night... yeahhhhh

Great pictures, but nothing beats showering WITH the parrot! It's glorious just watching her have such a good time. Barbara
