I wanted to let you know....Twiggy has two of the best new toys she has ever had. Two Quaker Oats round containers a large one and a small one. She's having a blast with them. Hiding things in them, chewing on them. Lugging them up high and shoving them off of the shelf in her cage....they are better than any toy I've bought for her. di |

Awesom kites Copper. I'd lllove to see pics of yours, but pics of your neighbors too.. maybe you can have a kite-flying party. We have a couple here and haven't flown them in quite a while. Maybe I need to watch Mary Poppins again. I guess like Barbara & Etta, I'll have to put it on the "to do' list. Good thing I have the boys as there is no way I could run and get a kite up... and no boat to fly from. I hope it's still raining Etta! Hmmmmm... Thanks for the idea Di. I'll have to try that soon. I have one that is nearly empty.... |

None of mine will play with the cardboard containers. They'll shread the lids but leave the containers. One of them figured out how to move the bottom grate on her cage, and got all the news papers though... It was like a recycling plant here for a few days. I'm sure she'll do it again if she gets bored. One of the neighbors here has a great white shark kite.... Imagine that floating in the sky, 50 feet above the water.... TOO COOL! I've seen a dolphin one, that looks like it would be neat... it was added to my wish list. |

I just saw the Oatmeal cartons and I usually put blocks or something that rattles inside but that doesn't even last... Mine are the type that wrap up a gift for them and the paper is the biggie... I think wood is the thing they like the best and usually I try to saw it in various sizes... and the mess a whole lot worse than paper... I also give them shredded printing paper... another messy item to play with.... |

LOL! Momnoah - I forgot you have to actually run to get a kite going......I may have to bribe a grandson...... | Find a hill top, you stand there with the string, and have him run down the hill to get the lift! But let him fly it for a bit too |

We had a funny happen a few minutes ago. Hubby was in the bathroom getting ready for work and watching out the front window. The little boy across the street drove down our driveway on his tricycle pulling a wagon behind him. He stopped up close to our house and picked up all the limbs I had cut off the pear tree several days ago. As he went back home one limb fell off and he stopped to pick it up and place it back on the wagon. His Daddy has a lawn maintenance business and the boys go to work with him a lot. I may hire this kid. He's about 4 years old. Hubby came in to tell me about it and was laughing so hard he could hardly talk. Now I will watch to see if Daddy makes the boy bring our limbs back. Ah, the nice cool month of May is almost over up here in Ohio. Temp today was 94, and after a 3 minute shower, it was like a sauna outside. My mom talked to a friend of hers down in Clearwater and the high there was 86. Everything here is damp and funky. |

Phooey. I forgot that pears were safe. I think of plums and others of the Prunus family that are unsafe and forgot that the pear is OK. These are Bradford pears, fruitless. Are they still safe, being ornamental trees? Annie |

I found another list. This one suggests being cautious about pear. In some cases it is thought to be safe, others think not. Annie |
