I have a 15 yr old daughter who has been acting out for the last 3 yrs or so..Been in and out of juvenile detention, mental hospitals for suicide attempts, she is also a cutter, has had no major drama in her life and has been loved and nutured her whole life. She shows signs of anti social behavior, lacks compassion a lot of the time, and also has extremely low self esteem and also does some bizzare things. She also told me it is hard for her not to shop lift which ends her in jail. She seems to be illlogical most of the time...Psychiatrists are apprehensive about dianosing and say that she is too young. They really give me no info..she has been in therapy for 3 yrs but does not seem to be getting better. Question: What is my best choice of finding someone that could give me more answers? Psychiatrist? psychologist? Forensic psychiatrist? Therapists don't seem to know a lot, other than having my daughter someone to talk to. I would like to get some direction here as far as getting her the right help. She also has been on many different meds without any progress. Please give me your opinions. I live in the Seattle area. Thanks so much!!
