I just love orchads but I'm too scared to get one because I dont have alot of light in my house and I dont want to get one just to have to put it in my greenhouse. If any one knows of an orchad that doesnt need alot of light or any way to grow one with a small plant light I'd appreciate it. Theyre on kind of plant I have no clue how to grow i.e. how much light, water, temp. etc.

thanks for the advice
Cece

I have a pretty green thumb and orchids pretty much always die on me.  So I'm not the one to ask about this.  Sorry.  LOL

Good luck, hon.

Hugs and lots of love,

Dan

If you're willing to invest in some fluorescent lighting, Cece, you can probably grow orchids in your apartment or home.  There are a wide variety of orchids and most can be grown indoors if you pay attention to their requirements.  Light is the most important, but if you don't have a lot of that naturally, you can get it with fluorescents.  I'm putting a link here to an excellent fact sheet about growing various types for different climates.  If you have a good nursery near you that grows orchids, ask their advice, too.  Maybe someone there qualifies as an expert and would help you set up.

I went out and bought 9 orchids a few months ago because a store around here (Franks Nursery and Crafts) went bankrupt and I got them each for $4 marked down from $30. I am keeping them at my parents house next door where the greenhouse is and they are doing great. Its not time for them to bloom yet, but I repotted them and they are growing strong. I found a great site www.orchidlady.com she has alot of info about growing orchids too.
