TANSTAAFL  (There Ain't No Such Thing As A Free Lunch).  Right?  Anyway, that's what I was always brought up to believe.  Yet a sales guy from Texas First Health Plans, which is part of some government agency, or anyway is overseen by this thing called CMS, or the Center for Medicare and Medicaide Services, told me I could have health insurance and also prescription drug coverage for nothing.  That's right, nothing.  No premium.  All I had to do was give up what I was currently with (my company health plan) since I'm on Medicare and I would be home free.  Pretty cool, huh?  I told him, "TANSTAAFL".

Turns our I was right.  I still have to pay my Medicare premium, and I have to add the prescription drug premium, what ever that might be.  I need to call and find out what that is...  I think it's pretty expensive.

Anyway, ya'll be careful when these guys come calling.  He was acting like he was representing the government.  He wasn't.  He was representing an insurance company.  Research everything before you buy.  Don't be pressured into signing anything.  And don't make changes until you're sure there's no hidden charges or fees.

Hugs and lots of love,

Dan

Unfortunately, there is always someone out there who is going to 'buy' into this scam.  I know the company that Ed worked for always tells us that IF we buy another prescription/medical insurance that we will lose our coverage...and IF we are able to get back into it, we would be charged higher premiums!  The coverage we get from them is as good, or better, than any we could get from someplace else.  So we stick with what we know best!

Sadly, people will buy this this...and they will end up getting screwed by it.  Their premiums will be higher, co pays higher, etc., and they'll be trying to get out of the hole forever!!  It's sad that these guys are allowed to do this....and look like they represent the government with names that are SO close to Medicare and Medicaid.

I may evcn buy from this guy.  I have to research the parent company.

I just wanted eveyrone to be aware that this was out there.  Be careful what you buy in terms of insurance, and never, never, never buy the first thing offered... at least until after you've researched it and compared against some others.

Hugs and lots of love,

Dan
