I am just letting you all know that I have been to the Doctor yesterday, Friday, 24th October 2008. He told me that I might have to go on Insulin and have injections. I am on tablets at the moment. As you all know that I live on the East Coast of England in the United Kingdom. I have been a Type 2 Diabetic since April 1999. I am 52 now. We have turned the clocks back over here in England this weekend. Take care. Anne xxxxx |

About 4 months ago, I started insulin. First long-acting Lantus then short-acting Humalog was added--and I'm still taking pills. Numbers are coming down, thankfully, but I find it really hard to plan for a meal away from home. You know, the logistics of injecting in a public restroom within 15 minutes of eating. Does anyone have suggestions on how to accomplish this without a lot of fuss and bother? Ednac |

Ednac, do you have an insulin pen? that has always been the easiest for use in public places. Some people dont even go to the restroom to use a pen, though I always did. It's so much easier to carry around.... |

I use an insulin pen and when eating out I wait until the meal is brought to the table and then I inject right at the table either through my shirt into my abdomen or into my thigh through my slacks. No one seems to be bothered by me doing it at the table. Before insulin pens I used syringes at the table, they are a little more difficult. At first I went to the restroom, but I find it more difficult in there. Lee |

I take insulin since about 4 years. I inject right at the table when I order my meal and it takes 15 or 20 minutes to get the meal so it works out just fine. Another thing I do if I go for lunch at injection time I inject in my car before I go in the place. Saphire |

Just curious? Do you keep the insulin on ice and take it with you? Do you also have to inject at lunch as well? I only inject at breakfast and dinner. Thanks, just curious. |

I have to take insulin at each meal and at bed time. I have a novolin pen which takes 1 vial it last me 3 days. Mine are packaged 5 vials to box which I keep in the fridge. My nightime insulin lasts a month, while I use each vial I carry it in my purse. It is always good I have been doing that since 4 years. If I am going to travel in warm weather I have a special bag to which I add a small ice pack made especially for insulin. I get them at my pharmacie or Walmart. Good luck with your insulin, I inject only in my tummy, I tried in my leg and it hurt like hell, maybe it's just the reaction I get. Take care.Hugs.Saphire |

I just went on isulin about 6 months ago, I know it may sound scary if you've only been on pills but don't worry it's a breeze. It hurts more on the leg then the tummy so I stick with the tummy. Pidge |

Why a restroom? I injested at table with pen or syringe. Only once was admonished by nearby diner and I suggested she have dessert in ladies room. |
