Is it right to inflict our beliefs on others?
So we have a certain belief, and we try to force it on others, try to make others think the way we do, we try to make others believe the same thing that we do, and what if we succeed? What do we get out of it at the end?  ((I found this question elsewhere))

NO!It's not right!
In fact, that's one of the things that have caused wars. There's a BIG difference between explaining beliefs & inflicting them.

No -  it is not right.

A person's beliefs will remain strong unless you literally beat them down into submission and even then there is no gaurantee that the person is fully accepting of your belief or your way.

The word inflict sets the tone for this question.

I remember my mother saying:  A man convinced against his will.
Is of the same opinion still.

No, it's not right for someone to impose or inflict their own opinion on others, but from my own experience it can make for some very interesting discussions or debates.  So long as those don't get out of hand and name-calling begins or someone gets their nose bent out of joint.  IF you can have a discussion between two people of opposing viewpoints, without one trying to inflict their own beliefs and opinions on the other, it does help to give a better insight into the person!  It's a great way to learn about people...to learn about other's beliefs and why they believe the way they do.  It's also a good opportunity to learn about you and your beliefs and why you believe the way you do.

I've never been the kind of person to say, "What I believe is right and what you believe is wrong...it's my way or no way", but I've always been the kind of person that will say, "Why do believe that?"

And, I do agree with CC...many wars have begun by some leader thinking their belief system, their system of government or whatever is "better" for the people of another country and in "inflicting" that belief, have convinced others to give up their lives thinking they are doing the right thing.

It is wrong...but it is an incredible way to peek into someone's psyche.

Politics and religion are the main subjects that some people try to inflict their opinions about.I avoid discussing it or else I ignore whoever is trying to make me aggree with them.

I don't think you can inflict your opinion/ beliefs on someone else if they are committed to their own.(unless something other than discussion is involved)

Browbeating someone until they say they agree doesn't mean they actually do. They  just might want you to shut up. It's truly arrogant IMO to presume one person has the right to believe a certain thing and another doesn't.

To paraphrase an old saying: "Man interprets, God laughs".
