Good morning everyone:  Well yesterday started out pretty good.  I was kind of tired when we headed out to take Cate back home but got to Toronto in good time and unloaded all of her stuff before we headed out to the Reserve.

I figured I would drive there and have Jim drive back home.
SportCar.gif image by patsgarden55
The drive was lovely!  We have so many different coloured leaves here and they were all showing off their glory for our trip.
MouseLeaves.gif image by patsgarden55
Before picking up our smokes, we stopped at a restaurant to have some soup for a quick lunch.  Mom and I have a yummy squash soup (which I will have to make myself now) and Jim had a bowl of Broccoli soup with cheese.

We went on to get the smokes and I automatically got right back into the driver's seat like I normally do. No more than 1/2 hour down the road, Jim was making kind of funny soft noises.  I asked him if he was alright but got no answer? Finally I just pulled off the side of the road and he immediately got out of the car and started walking back and forth.

ManFear.gif image by patsgarden55
When he got back in, he said he had bad abdominal cramps and didn't feel very well. I got an empty bag from the back of the van and left it nearby him just in case.  We sat there for quite awhile before he finally told me to keep going and get home. It was only around 3 pm when I hit the highway.

All the time I was driving (and I had a long ways to go) he kept doubling over and kind of moaning.  So unlike him to not feel well.  Then he began to be sick. The drive immediately began to be tense - keeping my eyes half on the road and half on him, listenting to the horrible gut wrenching sounds he was making and smelling the results of them.  This went on for a couple of hours with very little let-up.

I finally pulled off at a donut shop and he went in to 'tidy' up while mom and I bought some Tim bits. He was in there quite awhile and when he came back out, he was almost white.  He said he had relieved some of the pressure but still had bad cramps.

I switched mom up to the front seat and made a little bed for him in the back.  When he looked like he was drifting off a bit, I again headed for home.  I moved my rear view mirror down so I could keep an eye on him while I drove.  I was already so tired myself and now was also getting really worried about him.

The last half of the trip home was done in record time.  He continued to be sick and dozed off several times and when I finally got close to home, I drove right past it and headed for the hospital.   They took him right away and started a whole battery of tests on him.  We stayed until around 8:30 in the evening and I decided that I'd better get mom home so she could test and have something to eat.  I wasn't gone long at all I can tell you.  When I returned, he was fast asleep with heated blankets on him.

The blood and urine tests came back normal except for a slightly elevated white count which denotes some infection somewhere being battled. He looked so pale laying there and I eventually fell asleep leaning against the wall of his cubicle. I kept starting awake every time he made a sound or shifted in his bed. I had a supply of 'bowls' that the nurse had left with me for when he was sick again. I guess while I slept, she kept coming in and removing the soiled ones and leaving me fresh ones.

When the doctor came in again it took me a few mintues to wake up (as it did Jim too)
DoctorWriteNotes.gif image by patsgarden55
All results were within a normal range and Jim's colour was starting to return.  He talked with us for a few mintues and said he was sending us home to sleep.
NurseWave.gif image by patsgarden55
Whatever had been wrong was obviously passing as Jim's pain was lessening and he was no longer being sick.  The doctor offerred several possiblities but nothing definite.  A kidney stone, gall bladder stone, a stomache flu?

I got Jim ready to go with instructions for his care and left for home. On the way, we pretty much decided that it was a bit of stomach flu compounded by the rich food of the last couple of days.  The broccoli soup at the restaurant was probably the final straw.  It was very rich made with real cream and topped with a lot of grated cheese.  I guess that just did it.  His body had had enough and rebelled.

He is much better today and has gone back to bed for another nap. He still has some pain but its almost like the ghost of where it had been?  Every time he coughs or sneezes he automatically holds his stomach but he says it doesn't really hurt much.  He's just afraid it will.  I guess he's on the mend.  He is supposed to work tonight but I may convince him to take the night off and give himself a good rest for another day.

So here I sit with my hot tea in the quiet of my house, wondering what today will bring.  I could almost use a nap myself but I think I will hold out a bit longer and just sit here.

Makes one think about how mortal we all are.  Take care all.

Grammit - How nice to hear from you!  Ever in the center - ever the care giver.  Your life and family sure do rotate around you and little wonder - you get things done! Enjoyed reading your post and wishing everyone in your circle well.

Marsha - Yes I imagine your kitties are all acting like they are starving right now, getting ready for the cold winter months.  I'm so glad that Monica has found someone for herself.  He sounds like he is very good for her and Kyle.  Stuffed zucchini eh?  Sounds good to me!

Kathy - Kids will eat when they need to.  Her own little body knows what she needs and will act accordingly. Loss of appetite and lots of weariness generally means another growth spurt doesn't it?  She will soon start gobbling up everything and waiting for more.

Hello all. I've had a long day here. I had a noon dr. app. But  I left here at 8 a.m. to go to walmart and a few  other stops! So I nevr got home til 2 p.m.. I am just bushed! The dr. says my gout is better, but I could of told him that. But the spot on my leg is still there and he wants a dermatologist to look at it and maybe do a biopsy.  Not sure what it is.  My bladder infection has cleared up too, which  I also could of told him. LOL.. So then he took some blood and is going to run it just to be sure my other meds are all doing their thing!!  I bought 1 Christmas gift today, for Caity. Next time I will get Tom something, then when my xmas club check comes I will get more. Tom is at the age it is hard to buy for him. He's too old for toy's and too young for girls.. ha ha! I am sure we will think of some things for him tho.

Marsha - Congradulations to Monica!! Good for her!!         Tracy says Caity is eating better today. She thinks maybe Caity had a tummy ache and just didn't know how to put it into words!! But I am glad she feels better.

Grammit - - Nice to see you here. We miss ya. Hope Bud and Chester are doing OK. YOU sure are pushing yourself.. I hope  you take some time for yourself. Take care.

Pat - - - G'   I'm so sorry to hear Jim was so sick on your trip!! I'm praying he is fine now and stays on the mend!! Take care of the both of you, and  MOM too.

Well I am going to go rest a while, It has been a really long day... HUGS, Kathy

Good morning!  We got tons of rain yesterday. It really poured for a while, then there were showers off and on for the rest of the day. But, we didn't have any storms. This morning it's cooler, but because it's still cloudy, it's not as cool as expected. It will be tomorrow! The sun is supposed to come through this afternoon, so it'll be a nice day.

The company picnic is Saturday. We don't usually go to these things. But, they're thinking of having the ice cream machine there, and Michael is the only one who knows how to run it. So, we may have to go. The good part, is that if they do decide to have the ice cream machine, then Michael will get paid for being there! The company always gives away gifts to people who are there. I don't know how they decide who gets what, but they usually give away 3 laptops. That would be nice! Hee! Hee! At least the weather is going to be nice.

What's up for today? Anyone doing anything interesting? LOL! Not much here. The new coffee pot arrived yesterday afternoon. The old one had one of those permanent filters. So, I never had to put in one of the paper filters. Well, this one takes the paper filters. Dumb me! LOL! I forgot to put the filter in this morning. You should have seen the mess all over the counter! LOLOLOL!  Oh well! I'll get used to it!

Grammit - Good to see you! You're busy as usual. I'm glad things are going good. I sure hope you're finding a bit of time for yourself! Take care, and stop in again when you get a chance!

Pat - I hope Jim is feeling better. I think the worst thing is being sick when you're away from home. And, especially in the car. You're right - probably all the rich foods over the last few days, and his body rebelled against it all. I hope he decided to stay home from work so he could rest. As we get older, we just can't eat all that stuff anymore.
Did you get some rest? Sounds like you needed it! It never hurts!
We put another box on the porch for the kitties. Hopefully, it'll stay there! With all the rain yesterday, it was full! LOL! Every time we'd open the door, 6 or more would come out - stretching and yawning. One of these days, my brain will kick in, and I'll remember to take my camera out there!

Kathy - I'm glad your doctor's appointment went well. It probably isn't a bad idea to have that place on your leg checked out. Better safe than sorry!
Monica's fiance's name is David. He used to be an Army Ranger. You know, Monica's done well at raising Kyle, but sometimes it seemed to me like he needed a firmer hand. David does a really great job with Kyle. He has that firmer hand, but he will also play ball with him, and they ride bicycles together. I think this is going to work out well.

I'd better get going. You all have a wonderful day!
Hugs, Marsha

Good morning group - Well Jim did go to work last night. (What a surpise)  He said he was feeling better and would see how it goes. It went well until about 1 am when he was called into the office.  They told him that they really didn't think he would ever be much faster stocking the food shelves and it wasn't fast enough. He is still in his probation period.  They did not want him to leave however.  They offerred him a different position instead in their hardware/paint department. He would be mixing paint and doing customer service.  It sounds good but they only offerred him part time.  (Not good)  What's the point of working if you are only getting 27 hours a week? If he is going to work at all, he wants something full time to make it worth his while.  He is still thinking about it but they want to know yesterday if he will accept it!

He has also been offerred retraining through the employment office and he is considering that too.  He will be paid at the same time and figures he could brush up on some of his computer skills. We will see what he decides.

Not much planned for today.  It is quite cool and cloudy - not a great 'mood' day. I will most likely just putter around indoors for the day.  Last night I made the turkey soup and the Ham/cabbage soup. Both turned out yummy and comforting.  I have them all cooled and packed away.

Next week I have to go back to Toronto for a doctor appointment.  It will mark my 10 years since having the cancer and should be my last visit.  It will be nice to stop taking at least one of my regular pills.

So not much news for you today.  What's everyone else up to?  I hope you are all having a good day.

PAT

Marsha - I guess the kitties are all getting pretty big by now.  Another box wouldn't go amiss just to give them some elbow room.  (lol) It sure would be nice to be given one of those laptops! I know it would be put to good use.  I used to hate those paper filters.  I finally bought a permanent one that fit my coffee maker.  It was less than $10 and made such a difference.

Kathy - Doctors only seem to tell you what you already know!  (lol)  I was thinking about Tommy and wondered if I had a good idea for his age group.  What about a digital camera?  They can be bought for all kinds of prices at Walmart from $30 and up and of course require no film or developing charge.  I got one for Kyle a few weeks ago and plan to give it to him for his birthday in November. You may be surprised at Tom's interest in something like that. Just a thought.

Hello all. How has your Thursday gone for you all? It was good here,, but it is  my long day with Caity, no problems there tho. She had her nap and then ate some lunch so that made me happy!  I do feel a bit tired tonight, since I was so worn out yesterday, and did not sleep well last night.

Marsha - Our high temp of 70 was at midnight last night, and it has fallen to the low 50's. It feels cold in here right now. And we had rain showers all day. Very dreary. O- I hope you DO win one of those laptops at the picnic if you go.--LOL I have dont that with a coffee pot before and it truly is a MESS!!LOL..  Take care.

Pat - - Well, I'm glad Jim is feeling better. I know Wal-mart expects a fast pace, but then  I wonder why? ya know? Tell Jim I wish him luck whatever he decides! And I wish you luck with your DR. app. next week!  10 years THATS GREAT!!  OH hey good idea for Tom, he might like a digital camera. I'll ask Tracy and see what she thinks.  She just got him a cell phone ,cause sometimes the bus runs early or just different, and if he needs to call someone he will have a phone to do it with. He can get intot the house but you never know who might be lurking in their 400 ft. driveway!! There is a church right across the street and the minister  and his family lives there so he told Tom to come over there if he thinks something is strange . So take care.

Well everyone good night for now! Hugs, Kathy

Good morning!  It's somewhat cooler this morning, but still cloudy. We never did see the sun yesterday. They say we should see it later this morning and have a very nice weekend.

Thankfully, we won't have to go to the company picnic. The plant manager decided NOT to have the ice cream machine there. Michael and I are both glad we don't have to go. Although a laptop would have been nice. LOL! I'd rather get one with the features that I want on it - not one of those generic brands they get at Wal-mart. We've got a few things to do tomorrow, so we'll have plenty of time now to get it done.

Pat - I hope Jim finds something that he wants to do. He'd probably be better off going with the retraining. At least he wouldn't be on his feet all night. Wal-Mart wants everything done FAST!!! Doing the paint thing for just part-time really isn't worth it. I wish him luck with whatever he decides to do.
Congratulations! 10 years! That's fantastic! I just know you'll pass this doctor's exam with flying colors. Big hugs!
I got a couple of pictures last night of the kitties during their "feeding frenzy". LOL! I'll post them later when I get the pictures uploaded and resized. They're all getting pretty big now. And, with the cooler weather coming, they all eat alot!

Kathy - Yup! I sure did make a mess yesterday! Took me a while to get it all cleaned up. Oh well! Live and learn! Hahahahaha!
Pat had a great idea with the digital camera. I'll bet Tom would just love it! It might not be a bad idea to get one for Kyle, too.

I need to get going. Please make sure you read the special notice I put up. Have a great day!
Hugs, Marsha

Good morning all - We have sunshine today!  it is still very chilly but so nice to se the sun.  We have to take mom out today to do a bit shopping but nothing other than that.  Unless you count the laundry!  (lol)  It is Friday after all.  Forgot about that.

So Jim went in last night and turned down their part time offer.  He has an appointment on Tuesday with the employment councillor. I think it is for the best too.  Gives him time to check out a few other places and hopefully find something that would be more suited to him. Sure wish he could just stay home!

I still seem to be tired today - can't seem to get caught up. In fact I am posting later than usual because I fell asleep in my computer chair!  Now that's bad.  Maybe I just need to get out and get myself moving?  I hope that's all it is.

I have decided that our lawns need at least one more good cut before the cold weather sets in.  It's such a big job but it will sure keep me busy for a couple of days.  I also have bulbs to plant and that should be done soon.  Where am I going to find the energy to do this you ask?  (lol)  Who knows!

I hope you are all having a good Friday and are looking forward to your weekend.  Take care.

PAT

Kathy - Nice that Tom has some good neighbours to keep an eye on things.  I'm glad you liked the idea of the camera.

Marsha - Can't wait to see the photos of the kitties! The price of laptops has really been dropping so perhaps you can find what you want without spending an arm and a leg. Thanks for the congrats.  Sometimes I wondered if I would make it through it all but here I am!

Hello everyone! Hope you all are having a great day. I had a so-so day. I got up feeling like I am coming down with something, but I haven't decided what yet..lol.  No school here today,so I had Caity and Tom too. Tom is never a problem. He pretty much entertains himself. And he had his new phone with him so we both played with that for awhile.. Then I had him to hook up a new mouse for me cause mine would not work right, and I had changed the batteries 4 times.  Then we rode up to my neice's to get some of my dishes she had taken spaghetti home in last weekend. Caity fell asleep in the car and that was all the nap she had! At least we got out of the house for a while tho. So by the time Scott came after them I was ready for a lay down. ha ha... I have the cold chills off and on and I just couldn't go anymore.  I figured i would come say HI to you all and then have a hot cup of tea maybe that will help!

Marsha - I'm glad you aren't required to go to the picnic, especially if you really didnt want to. Can't wait to see the kittens. Have a great night.

Pat - -  Glad that Jim is persuing other  options, tell him good luck... I understand about the energy thing cause right now i don't have the energy to blow myself up!!! LOL...  I asked Tom about a digital camera today, and he got kind of enthused about it. Telling me that when he and His other Papa walk in the woods they always see animals and could take pics of them and nice pictures of the lake here, and then said he could make money with them too. of course he could win something with a picture of my Caity too, and of himself too!! (Grandma's pride).. ha ha.. Thanks for the sugestion! have a good night.

Take care all my nester friends!! luv ya, Kathy

Good morning!  I'm running a bit late this morning. Michael's still in bed - he's been up and down all night - almost like he has the flu. I'll be going to Wal-Mart in just a little bit to get some stuff for him. Keep your fingers crossed that I don't catch it!

Here are a couple of pictures of the kitties. Not all of them are there. There's about 6 of them that were off running around.

They were having their dinner! LOL! I wish I could get a picture of them as we're bringing the food out the door. But, they're in such a hurry for us to set the dishes down that it would be impossible.

Pat - Hopefully, Jim will find something he's more suited to. I know it would be nice for him to just stay at home, but it sounds like he's one of those people who really need something to do.
I'm not real worried about getting a laptop. Maybe one of these days.

Kathy - I hope you're feeling better. Sounds like Tom will like a camera. That's good!

I'll be posting more info on the groups closing as I get it. From what I was seeing yesterday, this isn't going to be as difficult as I thought. And, we have 4 months to move the group, so there's plenty of time. I better get moving. You all have a great day!
Hugs, Marsha

Good morning!  It's chilly! Down to 48! It's supposed to get up into the mid 70's this afternoon with lots of sunshine.
Monica, fiance David and Kyle are supposed to stop by this afternoon for awhile. It'll be good to see them!
Michael went back to work this morning. He was feeling a bit better, but still coughing with the runny nose, etc. etc. I've got a sore throat this morning. Not a good sign! When I went to Wal-Mart yesterday I got Michael some Ny-Quil, then got myself some of that Coricidin HBP stuff for colds and flu. I was hoping I wouldn't need it, but it looks like I might.

Kathy - Sounds like you've got what Michael's got. Just get as much rest as you can!
There's a lady who lives a couple of doors down from us, and works out there where Michael works. He's heard her tell some of the other people that we have the fattest stray cats in town! LOL! We just can't stand to see them hungry. Heck! We'll even feed the occasional stray dog that wanders through. I'd much rather feed them then see them getting into the trash and tearing it up.

I've got a few things to get done this morning, so better get to it. You all have a great day!
Hugs, Marsha

Hello group - Sorry I didn't get in yesterday. We had kind of a busy day.  Jim and I went sale shopping and spent alot more than we planned to. The Hereford Corned beef is usually $2.99 so I haven't been buying any lately.  Zellers had it on sale for $1.99 so we stocked up the pantry again plus buying 12 extras to take over to Tara's place.  There was a limit of 12 cans so Jim and I both had to go through the lines twice.

They also had Habitant soup on for $.89 - now that's a good deal!  Normally its $1.59.  We bought lots of it too.

Friday evening we went over to Tara's and watched a movie with them. Indiana Jones - Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls.  Not my kind of movie but they all enjoyed it.  I was feeling a little down anyway because my right knee is acting up.  It hasn't bothered me for literally months and now I am walking with it bent and hurting again. Very discouraging - I thought it had finally cleared itself up somehow.

Mom is showering today so I can set her hair. It should be fun trying to get down the stairs!  (lol)  I may have to go down on my butt.  Been there - done that.

There is no way I am going to get the lawns done either unless this knee straightens up. Our warmer days are rapidly slipping by and they have actually called for possible wet flurries next Tuesday!  I'm not ready for that! Can't we just skip the winter season?  I don't mind a green Christmas.

Tara (bless her heart) is doing up little Halloween bags for me, about 70 of them.  That will make it much easier this year. I may drive over there to pick them up if I feel up to going out.  Other than that, not much planned for me, its so uncomfortable getting around right now.

I hope you are all having a good Sunday.  Take care and keep safe.

PAT

Marsha - Those photos are priceless!  So many cats! Do any of them ever attempt to come indoors?

Kathy - Take good care for the next couple of days so that cold won't get a good grip on you.  Hot tea is my answer to everything too.

Hello everyone!! how is your Sunday/ Mine has been a day in bed! I must have something--- then on top of it I have another abcessed tooth. At least I am guessing that is waht it is. It is so painful.. Ya know, I amjust about to give up!!! It never fails that I get something or screwed up somehow... Bill and Tom went to do the leaves at my neice's. I stayed home, put a banquet slow cooker meal in the pot and made some quickie mashed potatoes and that was dinner.. I tried those Ore-Ida steam and mash, they are pretty good, but pricey for the amount you get.. They did come in handy today since I feel bad, tho.

Marsha - It's cold here too. Around 30 when we got up this morning and only about 55 now. Hope you and Michael are ok, and get to feeling better. IT's just not fair for us all to be sick! Take care of yourselves...

Pat - - You got some good deals yseterday. I hope your knee is OK and the pain goes away soon. I understand how it is when you can't get around very well.. I'm with you on the winter season-- I can do a green Christmas too. Take care of yourself!

Talk to you all tomorrow!! Hugs, Kathy

Good afternoon all- Jim and I just got in from lunch at the Mandarin!  This morning was our twin appointments for our massages and that always means lunch when were done.  Tara and Terry joined us and it was a really nice time, gabbing and eating.

As the top of me began to relax and get rid of tough knots, my leg and knee seemed to relax a bit too.  By the time she was done with me, my knee was almost straight even though she did not work on it.  There is still pain of course but so much better for walking. I hope it lasts.

We have a cold and rainy day here and they are calling for possible wet snow tomorrow.  Time for me to dig out my woolies and curl up somewhere for the winter. Call me around March please.  (lol)

Kathy - Sure wishing you were feeling better.  I know how miserable and useless it makes you feel when you aren't as mobile as you want to be.  Take best of care.

Marsha?  Tied up today?  Missed reading your post.  I hope you are having a good day.
