Hi Popsinall This is Kay and I will be trying to help you find your ancestors. I have found the birth records of two John McMahon - both with father's named John. What may help to decipher the correct one (if either of them) is if you know approximately when your John died. As you will see below one has a death date of 1959. See what you think. | | | | Event(s): | | Birth: | 28 JAN 1884 | Portadown, Armagh, Ireland | | | Christening: | | Death: | | | Burial: | | | | | Event(s): | | Birth: | About 1884 | Of Dublin South, , Dublin, Ireland | | | Christening: | | Death: | | Burial: | Now if you feel either of these are correct I can persue it further. Let me know what you think. Kay Manager |

Would I be correct in assuming that John was married prior to Louisa and then widowed? Kay Manager |

Thank you Kay, I have no way of knowing if one of these is my grandfather. He was widowed before he married Louisa in 1921. I know he died after 1931 and family tales say he died before or around the start of ww2 probably in Brighton.
He served in WW1 but i do not know what regiment, although apparently he won a bravery award

Just thinking about the bravery award, Mike has done a bit of digging for you as well and come up with this: A bravery Award. If it was in ww1 There was No John McMahon Listed As a Bravery Award. There ere 179 John McMahons listed Mostly From Scotland But some were enlisted in queens troops There were about 9 enlisted in Irish Troops But only one Enlisted In sussex Regiment. What might help if She has her Grandfathers Medals,On the Victory Medal It will have his Service Number
Mike
