Anne Coyne (B 1832 Ireland; D 31/12/1905 Australia) married William Malone in 1850 at Edinburgh, Scotland. Anne's parents were John Coyne and Ann Creamer.
I find it interesting that Anne (and maybe her family) would have travelled to Scotland from Ireland ?was this common during this time? William and Anne had at least 7 children, including my 3rd great grandmother, Mary Ann was born enroute from Ireland to Australia in 1851.
So Anne was born in Ireland, married in Scotland and then emigrated from Ireland! I find this very interesting but haven't found any story about this yet!

Hi there, I am looking for the Mayor family who came out to South Africa and they came with their cousins, Coyne - could there be a connection? The Irish travelled regularly backwards and forwards to Scotland and England for seasonal work , this went on until fairly recently. I would be interested in any info that might link the Coyne families (if there is one).

Hi Mike,
They may well be related - the family that I know came out together to South Africa were Mayor/Meyer, Coskey/koski, Coyne, Beresford and Ryan - so basically any ship with all these names would be it, and most are pretty uncommon. Any ideas?
Thanks, Ruth | |

Ruth and Mike,
I haven't found any connection with South Africa with my Coyne family at all.........in fact the only Coyne's I have in my tree are my 4th great grandmother, Anne and her father John. I really don't have a great deal of info Anne and her husband William Malone immigrated to Australia in 1851 aboard the St Vincent.
That's it - my whole info about the Coyne family. Sorry I couldn't help further.
Cheers
Cherie | |
