Thanks to all for the replies about bup. Back on track now, sort of but I must reply to lifeoverkill and say that, from my first experience of detox with bup, it doesn't create a withdrawl it actually stops it, which was pretty amazing, after trying to detox unaided, and with the doctor's shopping trolley of presription drug approach (never really got over the hypocrisy of that scenario; not allowed one drug cos it's illegal but a whole bag full of legal drugs to get you by). Going from $300AUS approx a day to 4mg of bup and very little side effects was amazing. It does work.
I've never tried meth so can't compare but I like the feeling that life is kind of back to normal and the side effects are minimal (and, sex is back on the agenda yeah!!! certainly missed that one). The form of bup I take is mixed with naltrxone so a hit is a waste. It is taken in sublingual (sp??) form and no point injecting it not that I have tried. Can't anyway as it is given out in a chemist situation and they watch you like a hawk to make sure it goes down. hate that bit of it.
But, apart from the fact that it is harder to get on than H—in terms of paperwork and that the lack of doctors registered to administer it so you can experience a waiting period, not a good thing at all—I think it works a treat. My problem with the last fuck up was H for three days, which was always the danger period for me, and I assume it was that that sent me into fairly bad withdrawl but wonder if it was made worse by the bup.
So, after all that waffle, what I still don't know is that when I do decide to drop the bup, probably to go on Naltrexone, will I suffer as much coming off it as H? Most health professional I have asked are very vague about it all.
good night all, off to a sleep of dreams again

dear movinon,
thanks for the info on the bup.. it sounds like its helping you alot, like a total lifesaver.im actually going to look into switching to the bup, and get off meth. in the process of finding a doc. now. im on 30 of meth, and still using..not a good blocking dose, but when i go any higher i blow up like a baloon. i would rather take bup or naltrexone, and get discouraged blowing money and not getting high. thats on way ill quit for sure. on 30 mgs of meth, i can still get high, its preventing me from cleaning up my act....well im preventing me from cleaning up my act, but the meth is enabling me to use and not experience severe withdrawal if i cany obtain dope that day.
i need to know that i cant get high, and then i wont.
thanks again,
beth

Hi Beth, I have heard that it is the best way to get off meth. Crazy that when offered the choice of bup or meth many years ago as being the main detox method the powers that be chose meth. Bup was relegated to the back burner and it would seem it was a huge error.
As an added bonus, it has been noted that bup use can result in weight loss (not sure if it is seen as a bad thing or good thing). I haven't noticed a huge difference but I haven't put on any extra weight since starting and I am definately eating more than I was when on H so perhaps it does in some strange way.
good luck, hope it works for you
cheers

i'm on bupe too and i dont put on any of the weight i lost. Which is probably another 'god i'm fucked up' board for me, but i love being super skinny. Bupe (in the same way that H does) makes my appetite smaller. i'm a bit scared of what is going to happen when i stop using it. I wish there were take-aways in Sydney! |

Madeline,
Cant you stay on Bup until you feel comfortable about your
recovery???
Don't they prescribe it as maintenance???
Love Karen
