RAVEN's medicine includes: Consciousness, no fear of rebirth, renewal, honoring ancestors, divination, new occurances, ability to find light in the dark, Trickster, teacher, hoarder, To Pacific Northwest Coast tribes, Raven represented the shaman's powers and a belief in transformation between human and animal spirits. Raven symbolizes change in conciousness and is the mark of a shape shifter, introspection, eloquence, self reflection.

Raven, share with me your magic.
I am the darkness in the light,
the light in the darkness.

Raven carries magick from the dark void of the Crone (dark mother) to our realm. This void is where great knowledge awaits us. Thus, Raven has a great responsibility to the spirit realm. Those who have Raven medicine will also feel this responsibility and will tend to be those who share deeper knowledge -- spiritual teachers, healers, priests, doctors, prophets.

Raven comes when you ask for love, light, and healing. When Raven brings his medicine to you, he gives you a heightened awareness, sharper perception, and an expanded consciousness. With this new perception you can look into the heart and soul of people, begin feeling what they feel. This strong empathy can be a burden.

With this refined perception comes a responsibility to use the Raven medicine wisely. One could abuse it, using it for selfish, nefarious purposes. This is not the way to go. Use the clarity and understanding that Raven gives you for good purposes. That is why Raven comes to you when you need light the most. He does not want you to turn to the darkness because it will eventually destroy you. As long as you use Raven's powerful medicine for the good of others, life will continue to flow smoothly for you as well.

Ravens have a long history of myth and lore associated with them. In some native tribes they are known as the "keeper of secrets." They hold the teachings of mysticism and magic. Ravens are linked to the void, where universal secrets are stored. Their inky black color is the color associated with darkness. The darkness is a place where unconscious fears live. Raven, a master magician, embodies the energy of transformation and shows us how to eliminate our inner demons.

Ravens are the largest songbirds in North America. They are extremely intelligent and are clever mimics. They incorporate and mimic calls of other species and can teach us how to understand the language of animals. They have also been known to learn some human words.

The raven knows the mystery of life. They have an intimate association with death and rebirth. Because raven would feed on the corpses of the dead hanging on the gallons, early European settlers feared this bird and considered it to be an ill omen. In truth, however, raven should be respected not feared.

There are many stories in native cultures about this illusive black bird. Shamans know the power of an unexpected piercing sound in altering consciousness. Ravens exercise this power, emitting a variety of sounds and can aid us in shifting our consciousness into various dimensional realms. This is one reason why the raven is known as a shape shifter with magical powers.  Anyone with raven as a totem can expect continual changes and spiritual awakenings throughout their life.

Raven picks its students according to their accumulated wisdom. It flies into a persons life carrying the energy of magic and healing. If it decides to settle in and take up residence, it will stay as long as necessary to aid you in transmuting your karma then return you to the light. It will push, prod, and lead you into the discovery of your multidimensional self and reunite you with the secrets of the multidimensional universe. Those with this totem should remember to meet raven, not with fear, but rather with an appreciation for the teachings that it holds.

Raven- Larger than a crow this black scavenger bird is recognized for its shaggy and ruffled plumage at the throat and for its oily black sheen. It is an acrobat in the air, tumbling and rolling through the sky. It calls out with a deep cronk or caw sound and has been known to even imitate sounds in its environment. Ravens eat rodents, insects, grain, fruit, bird eggs and refuse. They are found in a variety of habitats, from treeless tundra to coastal sea banks, rocky cliffs, mountain forests, desert canyons, to open plains.
Do you believe in magic? Well, Raven calls out to you to witness the miracles and magic around you. Magical power is something beautiful when it is used for the good of all. It is in every blade of grass and every little growing seed you plant. Creativity is everywhere and you have a creative side of you that loves to imagine and to paint pictures with your mind. "Plant a miracle with your heart and imagine it with your mind", the Raven says. And you will be surprised at how often life will give you what you want. Your thoughts fly through the air much like the raven. When your thoughts are purposeful they can be sent to those who are in need. If you wish upon a star or pray to God your prayers will be answered especially if you pray for someone who needs a miracle or two more than you. Never take for granted the power you have in your heart to love and to send wishes of good fortune to everyone around you. And think of yourself too and ask for something innocently for you to enjoy. Maybe you are needing to find a stamp to complete the set in your stamp collection. Imagine you have it and send a little prayer and it may turn up in the mailbox with the morning mail. That is magic that comes to you when the creator and you hum together to manifest love
