You can watch animal behavior in the wild and learn a lot about what helps an animal species survive. But you may think that this has little to do with you. After all you aren't looking for food in an ant hole or chasing a wildebeest in the savanna. But there is an innate or "built in" intelligence that you share with the animals of the earth and with every living soul. In other words, you hum a similar tune in the song of life that connects you to every living thing . This innate intelligence helps you understand the messages of the animal kingdom. It is this intelligence that is in harmony with nature and with your animal allies. And if you are intelligent enough you will appreciate this spiritual connection.

Animal allies teach about the qualities that everyone appreciates and that make you a better human being. Some teach you qualities of strength, while others wish you to be more sensitive, loving and gentle. A tiger for instance may ask you to be a leader and guide others along the path of life. And if you watch a group of elephants in the wild you are sure to learn a lot about a close family and community.

Some animals are with you to protect you from harm in the invisible realms of the spirit worlds. Others arrive to dare you to be different and to overcome your silly fears and self-defeating attitudes. Some want you to spend more time with friends while others insist you know yourself first through time to yourself. Each ally that arrives on your path has a different message for you to appreciate at a time when you need it most. All the lessons are lessons of love. Their wisdom will help you build the confidence you need to achieve your dreams and to become a better person. You will build strength, courage, a good heart and a sense of pride through the offerings of your animal. Be a friend to your ally and appreciate the guidance you receive.

Your animal allies know that life is a series of lessons that you can run towards or away from. You are here to learn that the choices you make reflect on you as well as your family and friends. Ones that your family will be proud of and that honor you as a steward of the earth. You have different choices each day, some take you to your goals and others will lead you away. With your ally at your side and with the right guidance you can make good choices each and every day. And you will be grateful for the help.

Some will become your favorite totems after you have learned all that you can from them. And you can then tell stories about your adventures with them to those around you. Throughout your life you will develop a special relationship with the animals that arrive on your path. Some will come and go and others will remain with you always. Honor them.
