Self-Esteem Journal Exercise
This exercise is for you to explore how well you cope with everyday stress and life changes.
Read the question and then write a journal entry, the length does not matter as long as you answer the question.
Be fair to yourself and explore what you really think and feel about each question.
By putting your thoughts and feelings into concrete words on paper, you can look through your entries to understand your strong and weak points in your own self-esteem.
Answer yes or no to the question, and then write down an explanation of your answer, if you must, add a “why?to the end of every single question.
There are no right or wrong answers - there is just your belief. Be honest with yourself.
1. Do you think you have something interesting to say that others will want to hear?
2. Is it harder for you to make and keep friends than those around you?
3. Do you worry that your friends will reject you?
4. If you make mistakes, will those around you still accept you?
5. Do those around you seem to be better off with their lot in life than you are?
6. If you were suddenly in need, would someone help you?
7. What do others think of you?
8. Do people only respect those who are smart, rich, or well liked?
9. If you are “yourself? will people like you?

About Self-esteem
Most psychologists agree that a person's self esteem affects every part of their lives from relationships to work to sex to happiness. It is the way we view ourselves and our own abilities.
It is this image of ourselves that we carry with us that determines many of our actions and perceptions of events that occur around us. Wonder why the same thing can happen to two people, and they interpret or handle the event very differently?
Self-esteem is one of the keys to enjoying life. If you wish to start a journal for self-improvement, this is the place to start.
Once your self-esteem grows, it is easier to enact other changes to our lives.
Interpreting your Results for Self-Esteem
At the end of your entries to your answers, write down High and Low on two separate lines.
Read Steps 1-3 before continuing.
1. If your general answers to the following number questions are positive (agree, yes), put a mark in the High column. If your answer is generally negative (no, disagree), put a mark in the Low column.
2. If your answer is very positive or negative, put a mark by the entry for later reference and a checkmark (or different mark in the High and Low columns as well as your initial mark).
3. Do this for questions: 1, 4, 6, 7, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 15, 16, 19, 20, 21, and 23.
Read steps 4-6 before continuing.
4. If your general answers to the following number questions are positive (agree, yes), put a mark in the Low column. If your answer is generally negative (no, disagree), put a mark in the High column.
5. If your answer is very positive or negative, put a mark by the entry for later reference and a checkmark (or different mark in the High and Low columns as well as your initial mark).
6. Do this for questions: 2, 3, 5, 8, 14, 17, and 18.
Now, tally up your High and Low columns.
If you High column has more marks than your low column, your self-esteem is generally good. If you have more marks in your low column, you have a low self-esteem. The more marks in the High column, the better. If your high column does not have at least 16 marks in it, you may wish to peruse the added links for ways to improve your self-esteem.
Read through the High column questions that you put a special mark beside. These are your strong points in self-esteem, congratulations.
Now read through the special marks in your low column, these are the areas in which your self-esteem needs improvement.
I will add links to here soon for more resources about Self-Esteem.
