This is the second card "The Magician" and this is Card 1 and a Major Arcana.

Please post what you think this card means, please do not use a book to look at, but go by your gut feelings and instincts. If this card came out in a spread for a person what message do you feel lies within. Remember you get out of this what you put into it, it doesnt matter our much or how little you post, the key here is to trust yourself in what you give. Please post you feelings and thoughts and add it to this thread. In a couple of days the meaning of this card will be posted.

Please dont be shy to post, this is meant to be a fun excercise that we can also learn in :)

Hi Misty

The Magician to me is us.   The infinity sign above his head .. scroll in one hand raising to the heavens and the other pointing down ward ... I would say that he is our Spirit.  Every thing is on the table before him.  Just ready to mix and match ...
Once here on earth I believe most of us tend to forget that we are very powerful creatures ... all filled with magical ablilities.   If anyone really watches and listens to the little ones ... they know they were born with powers.
I think it is a card saying that we have to live and learn so that balance is created within us between the two worlds.  That if we believe in ourself and the magic within we can create a very beautiful life.  Starting with the moment we are in now.
Don't know much but that is what the Magician looks to me

Ok I am going to give this a go now. To me this card represents, reclaiming and remebering the magic in ones life, to focus and remember the simple things in life. Also To reach for the stars, that nothing is impossible if you beleive in your self and the magic of life. To also focus on nature and take in its magic, connect with nature. This card also makes me think of power and to tap into ones inner power, The magician is holding his hand high to the stars and connecting with his power. Remeber you can do anything if you choice to, be strong.

Thats it for me today :)

hmmmm ok... for me.. flowers represent growth, and also they need nourishment to grow, so i think this is a strong growth card, and also being that he is a magician, would signify some magic, maybe personal magic at making the growth within ourselves possible... faith, believing, as that is what magic is all about. i see the sword, the cup the pectacle and the wand are all laid out on the table in front of him and he is holding what looks to be a candle with flames at two ends... hmmmmmm but also to me, that shows balance, just as he is holding it, pointing to the sky, his other arm is directed downwards.....

thats it! lets see how close i came  =)

THE MAGICIAN

  • ACTION
  • CONSCIOUS AWARENESS
  • CONCENTRATION
  • POWER

ACTIONS

taking action
doing what needs to be done
realizing your potential
making what's possible real
practicing what you preach
carrying out plans
producing magical results
using your talents

acting consciously
knowing what you are doing and why
acknowledging your motivations
understanding your intentions
examining the known situation

concentrating
having singleness of purpose
being totally committed
applying the force of your will
feeling centered
setting aside distractions
focusing on a goal

experiencing power
making a strong impact
having vitality
creating miracles
becoming energized
feeling vigorous
being creative

The Magician is the archetype of the active, masculine principle - the ultimate achiever. He symbolizes the power to tap universal forces and use them for creative purposes. Note his stance in the picture. He acts as a lightening rod - one arm extended up into the Divine for inspiration, the other pointing toward Earth to ground this potent energy.  His abilities appear magical at times because his will helps him achieve what seem to be miracles.

What makes the Magician so powerful? First, he is not afraid to act. He believes in himself and is willing to put that belief on the line. He also knows what he intends to do and why. He doesn't hesitate because he understands his situation exactly. The Magician can focus with single-minded determination. As long as he remembers the divine source of his power, the Magician remains the perfect conduit for miracles.

In a reading, the Magician implies that the primal forces of creativity are yours if you can claim your power and act with awareness and concentration. This card is a signal to act and act now, provided you understand exactly what you want and are committed to getting it.

The Magician uses his willpower to manifest what he wants.  He/she has learned some skills and is ready to use them to his/her advantage.  This person is able to create great things and benefits from it.

Usually when I get this card it's telling me to get focused, get working and use my skills to move forward, that I have what it takes.

Sometimes it is telling me to use my knowledge or that someone in my life has the answer to my problem, to seek this person out. (could be a doctor or other professional)

Sometimes this card warns me that there is a manipulative person in my life, someone who is sort of a con artist and isn't necessarily concerned with what I want.  I have to watch that I don't become deceived by lies....ew....

This card has many meanings for me. Sometimes I think of him as a trickster. He is showing you tricks but its all an illusion, slight of hand. Sometimes I think of him as someone who can always come out OK in the end. He is always pulling the rabbit out of the hat so to speak LOL.

I have a question, when I had my first (and only reading) done, this card
"The Magician" came up as part of my reading. I am only guessing it was part of
of my reading. But the reader asked me the same question, "what does this represent to you?" I at the time was unaware as to its true meaning and guessed what I had thought, nothing like what the rest of you posted, but in any event I guessed. Well, come to find out, this card is like what someone had posted, he is a trixter, sort of like a con. Now my question here is, was the reader impling that "I" am the con, or is it the reader? Maybe, one of your readers could do a reading on me, to see what comes up. Because I will tell you, I have been concerned ever since that card came up for me, then for the reader to tell me that HE was unclear as to the true meaning of my reading!!!!!!!!Left me wondering whats up with it.
Thank You.

Hi and blessings everyone,To me the Magician represents someone who has the ability to use his /her power in a positive way. A person who is focused and is combining their energies to bring about a positive result. This card represents the sitter in a unique position of being able to focus their energies in any direction - work, relationships, study , spiritual pursuits, physical, mental, emotional etc and bring about a positive successful result. This is our "magic" the ability to harness our energies and bring about a successful result. Only when the card is reversed is the person not using their natural abilities in a positive way and in some cases be a trickster/ con. This card also depends on the surrounding cards to give a deeper meaning. blessings Whiteladywolf xxxxxxxx

Hi!
What exactly does it mean when you say, "only when the card is reversed"? Meaning that the person is a trixter or a con. I really need help with this question for I am feeling as though I have been played upon!
Thank You!

Okies, When a card is reversed in a reading /spread it means it is upside down. The Magician card generally means that the sitter is in a position of power, and by focusing his/her energies can bring about a positive manifestation in a particular area in their lives, unless of course the card is reversed /upside down , means that person is not focusing their energies in a positive way and is misusing their position of power/ ability to bring about / manifest their future, or can simply mean the person is not living up to their potential. The magician card can also refer to another person but this is only dependant on the position in the spread. Also note other cards surrounding , will indicate a deeper understanding. The "power" I refer to is the our power within to create our future. The magician indicates a point in our lives where we can create/ manifest is at it's most powerful, and is dependant on how we focus our energies (thoughts, emotions) Energy is neither positive or negative, it is the intent behind it , that brings about the result. In an extreme sense, and only very occassionaly can the magician be refered to (con / trickser) of varying degrees, this is dependant on surrounding cards and also the ability of the reader to "read  " the cards. Be assured that the Magician is a Positive card. I hope this is helpful to you in interpreting your reading. Blessings Whiteladywolf xxxxxxxxxx
