     I generally give the baby to it's mother.  Of course if you are the mother, then that option may not work for you.

       You might try giving your baby a tongue bath. There is nothing like a good tongue bath to quiet crying kittens of any species. Another trick that my mother used on me was feeding me smoked salmon whenever I cried. Of course this led to my current salmon addiction, but when I was eating I wasn't crying. 
     Lastly if nothing else works you might try giving the baby a catnip pacifier to chew on, it worked for me every time.  Then place the baby on a warm windowsill for a nice nap. Hope this helps you out. :>) Sincerely,
