Not a recipe this time, but Lindt has a new truffle (at least new to me!)!

It is called extra dark and is made from their 60% cocoa chocolate.  It has a more traditional truffle texture.  Their other truffles have a center that is much softer.

Actually, it could be a recipe after all.  You know how the Scottish batter and deep fry everything?  Well, they do, and I'm wondering if this truffle is large enough to batter, deep fry and not disintegrate while frying.  If so, it might be right up there in the yummy realm with what they do to candy bars and Twinkies.  Anthony Bourdain wrote about his experience with the frying thing and he even ate a battered and deep fried pickle.  Said it wasn't too bad, but I can't imagine that it was any good.

I had a Lindt dark chocolate bar that was 85% cocoa. Whoaaa you say?
Well, then try these on for size...Dark Chocolate Raisinettes. If you don't
like raisins, then give me yours when you buy them (cause I know you willl
buy them even if you don't like raisins...after all, they have dark
chocolate!). Hope life is well with you. I am up to the neck in studies.
It's about to bust loose, because at the end of October I have three nights
of classes instead of two. Let's hope I make it to May and then we can both
kiss school off for good! You can help me.

Jen

I love that 85% bar.  If you want to satisfy a serious chocolate hunger, that is the bar to do it.  Just a little piece and the cravings are gone.  My daughter thinks that bar is horrible and still talks about how I "tricked" her into trying it.  Cripes.  I was just trying to share.

I've not seen the dark chocolate-covered raisins, but I am going to look for them.  Do you think that the nutritional aspects of the raisins will moderate the junk food qualities of the chocolate?  I hope so.

I save all of my chocolate cravings for the good stuff, and never look at the other kinds of candy, except for Twizlers red licorice.  These days, the good stuff is Lindt Petits Desserts, and their $14.00 box of mixed candies (from Walgreens), and, of course, the truffles.  Godiva seems to be off their game, and the last two boxes we bought last week were pretty yucky, and we tossed most of them in the trash.  Very sad, but no one would eat them, not even me.  Yes, I know that all those things are snobbish of me, but I figure that if I'm going to use calories on sweets, I might as well have the really good kinds.

However, the combination of dark chocolate and raisins is just too good to miss, and, I'm sorry, but you'll not get your grubby little hands on any of mine if I'm able to find them.  O.K., fine, I'm willing to share, but only if I find a lot of it.  Alright, I'll share even if I have only just a few.   And, only if there is lots of coffee around, too.

I knew that you were busy with your classes, but gosh, three nights a week?  When will you sleep?  I guess that I can wait until May, but I'm not very happy about that.  Try to take care of yourself while you're taking care of everyone else, huh?
