Sorry, Brenda, but it does not seem as though your message got through, although this one did just fine. I really am interested in the whole blue visor thing, and hope that you will repost it here. Any help that you need, just write it here or write to me at our contact e-mail address (the one from which I first wrote to you) and we will help you with anything. Fortunately, MSN is pretty user-friendly; unfortunately, if you are new to all of this, everything will probably be confusing. That said, you seem to be doing quite well!!! I'm on my way out to pick up my Obama yard signs, but will try to be back later. After I have some lovely coffee at my favorite dive. Mmmmmmmmm. |

I too am interested in the car visor. Since I am doing much more driving lately for work (don't ask..but I may tell anyway) and dating...yes, that's right, I said it again! 6 dates with the same guy...people tell me that means he's my boyfriend. I have yet to admit it to myself. Or perhaps I am waiting on the official word from him as to what exactly we are. lol He knows about my som and my glaucoma, and he likes me anyway! woo hoo. |

This has become an everything-including-the-kitchen-sink kind of thread, hasn't it. One of my favorite kinds. Anyway, this election season in the U.S. is really one of the best in a very long time. This is for the U.S. members; whatever positions you support or candidates you back, just get the heck out there and vote. I've had the opportunity to see all three of this year's major candidates a few times for each (can you say road trip!?!), with McCain being the most frequent...thus the Obama yard signs, buttons and bumper stickers. Although, I do have to admit that not much of substance happens at these personal appearances, rallies, whatever you want to call them; as well as the sad fact that little difference exists in the appearances from place to place. The same old platitudes and self-aggrandizment. I must admit that, so far, the mudslinging has been relatively uninspired. I try to keep an open mind, which is easy at these things because nobody gives a darn what the average citizen thinks anyway. Still, it was a bunch of opportunities that I've never had the luxury of time for before and I'm glad I squandered all that money for gasoline and a couple of motel rooms to do it. However, it is important that every person make up their own minds, so visit their websites, see them in person if you are able to do so and watch the debates. Don't be influenced by the fear-mongers and the idiots. It is now more important (can we all say 'essential'?!!!) than ever for one to be a good citizen, town, state, country, world. Where ever in the world you live, get involved, and if you cannot do that, at least be informed. This is as close as I could get to the kitchen sink (just think Kramer from Seinfeld) And, I think this is cute. |

A thread of politics. Maybe we should start one up front. It's that season for sure. Juds you make an excellent point that everyone needs to make up their own mind. But does that mean those who have a strong opinion that they feel is defensible and worth making, shouldn't express that opinion in a way they feel is persuasive and compelling?
If we don't want that sort of thing perhaps we should just say so. But if we do want to add that to our site, let's start an "election" thread and try to respectfully convince each other why we think how we are going to vote is the best for our country.
Perhaps I'm pushing a little too hard considering I'm a new guy. I've always been called something of a big mouth, Tony |

That's how we get to know the "new guys", Tony, so speak on. I'm actually relatively new, myself, having been a non-contributing seeker of knowledge and support until I decided that wasn't as good as joining up. I didn't start out by being...ummm..reticent either. Whatever we think, whichever group or person we support, United States citizens need to examine issues, ignore the untruths and character attacks, step over the meaningless details, and WORK for what we think will begin to make things right for our country. I suppose you can't pretend to be non-partisan when feelings run so strong--but you can peel back the crud and seek out the issues--and set some examples for others by doing that. It was very interesting to have the chance to talk politics with folks in Europe and to hear how vehemently they hope we make the right choices. What we do affects people world-wide, and many of them are watching with keen interest and strong feelings. I, too, love the kitchen sink threads. (Nice tub, Juds--and the bunny does add a nice note of random fluffiness.) Last year's favorites included cat maintenance, bat control (or lack thereof), family uproar, and home maintenance war stories. True, there have been some who only want to find facts about SOM in the "messages" section, but this is the best way to get to know eachother. Love it. Annie |
