This is too important and I am reposting it here so that we can all benefit from this information.

I am a new member & thought I'd share one thing that has helped me for many years. I purchased auto visor attachments that slide up or down from the existing visors. They are see-through(yellow tint) and block 100 per cent blue light. Blue light from oncoming cars, street lights, etc, at night hurts my eye & often causes a sudden episode of jerking & wobbling. This obviously interferes with driving. I also have blue-blocking sunglasses for daytime - can even wear at night & can see very well.

I cannot tolerate camera flashes, strobe lights, or any other sudden, bright light. I have even fallen down due to the sudden effect that it causes with my SOM. I'm not sure if anyone else has experienced this, as I don't know anyone else with the condition. But it has enabled me to function much better and to drive.

I purchased the visors around 1999 - 2000 from QVC - the TV shopping network. They no longer carry the product. When I did a Google search recently, I could only locate an inferior style - not a true "Blue Blocker". If the item has a green or blue tint, it is NOT a real blue blocker. It must have an orange/yellow tint.

QVC still carries the sunglasses in various styles. Their brand has a trade name: BluBlocker. When I wear them (day or night) I feel an immediate relief from strain in my eye. I am certain the glasses can be purchased elsewhere, but it must be a true "blue blocker" to really work. I think that they block both blue & violet rays, which are known to cause eye strain in "normal" people.

Hope this is helpful to someone out there.

Thanks for that info. My SOM was terrible last year but has since let up for the most part except when driving at night or when there are lights overhead. My eye goes CRAZY!! I found the BluBlocker website and ordered a pair-hope they work for me too!

It is too bad that your source no longer sells the visor attachments.  It would be simple and non-invasive, and probably a reasonably priced experiment, were they still available.  I did a quick search, even trying some of my wholesale resources, and failed to find anything. except for the sunglasses and some head visors that did not look like the real deal.

I have written to the US distributor (not the main company in Norway), asking if the vehicle visors are still available, even though they are not listed on either website.  I am guessing not, but receiving an answer in the negative from them will, at least, allow us to stop searching for it.

You know, I'm thinking that simply wearing the sunglasses would solve that problem in a jiffy.  I know that most pharmacy stores sell sunglasses, and I imagine that some department-type stores might.  Blublocker makes a variety of eyeglasses, as well as models that can easily be attached to prescription glasses, which means that these might be available where you purchase your prescription eyewear.

I will let you know what the company replies.  And, if I remember to look for a pair of the sunglasses, will share how they work for me.

How about the rest of you?  Have you used this product?  Did you find any benefit from it?

I received a response from the BluBlocker products company.  They have discontinued  the vehicle visor attachment.  Guess that the sunglasses are the only option to try now.

I received the pair of sunglasses I ordered. They really do help. I have been having to wear my patch as of late and I can sometimes get away with just wearing the sunglasses instead. Of course I like the super cool look of wearing the glasses rather than the pirate patch...

I just ordered a pair yesterday. It was tough to pick out the best style. But I am excited to get them considering the good feedback. I'll keep you posted. Tony

Hello All,
I got my new BluBlocker glasses over the weekend and I've had 2 days of driving with them. The first day I wore them I was driving about 2 1/2 hours. The first 30 minutes I wore the glasses and had no symptoms, and since things had been pretty good the last day or two, I thought maybe I'm just heading back into the remission I've been hoping for. So I took the glasses off for no more than 2 or 3 minutes and immediately started having some minor symptoms. After I put the glasses back on, I still had symptoms but they didn't get real bad until it started to rain hard and I had to take the glasses off. This morning I had to drive to the airport before it really got light so I had a hard time wearing sunglasses. Bad symptoms in the rain even after it got light enough to put the glasses on. I'm going to keep using them and hopefully there will be some help. I'll keep you posted. Take care, Tony

I've had a few weeks now with my BluBlockers and I'm pretty sure they do help somewhat. There seems to be some relaxing quality to them. They don't completely eliminate symptoms but I do feel that overall, symptoms seem to be better with them than without. Definitely worth the $20.
