Well will wonders never cease! I have truly missed you--thought of you so often. It's just great to see your non-eaten message popping up. How the heck are you? Lots has happened--many many new people, so I hope you have had a chance to keep up at least a bit with shenannigans around here. And I hope things are good with you. Annie |

HeyHowdyHi, Hopefully my enforced prodigal-ness has come to a close. Currently, the computer seems to be cooperating and gremlin-free, hurray! I have been demoted to dial-up, which is v-e-r-y-s-l-o-w lol, but workable. We have moved (twice :o ) since I was here last, but hopefully are settled for a while. The mister quit his public job and started his own business, which is building but slowly. Scary times, what with our current national economic saga, but leaving that old job was definitely a good thing. Summer here has been HOT, and wet to dry to wet again in spurts. We need the rain...what we didn't need was the leaky roof at our new address! I thought that was fixed, only to discover a repeat drip-drip-drip this morning. Yay. Otherwise, in SOM news I have been relatively twitch-free over the summer. Or should I say, "had been", the sleeping monster has awakened, as I knew it would. Lucky I have y'all, to share your infinite wisdom and experience, and thus I was not surprised or freaked out. It was more of a "sigh, well I enjoyed it while it lasted," didn't I do good?? lol I'm in the process of trying to get caught up on the posts here, but I'm failing dismally. Suffice it to say, I greet all newcomers, bow to all oldtimers, and hope everyone is doing well. However, one thought, it has only recently occurred to me that I too struggle with the focus changes of near to far and back again. My sister had cataract surgery recently and was lamenting her struggles with that issue, which caused the lightbulb to go on for me! For example, even in an 'episode,' I may still be able to read a book, while driving or even walking through the house will be a struggle because of the field changes. Weird, huh...it's okay, my family already thinks I'm nuts, it just adds to the intrigue for them. :) I'm eternally overjoyed to be able to be among my other 'nutty' pals, wonk on! hugs, Angie |

Since I'm new, I don't want to intrude on all your past stuff. But Angie, you sound interesting and cool. So I'd like to say hello. All the best to you.
And let me whine for awhile. Somehow, my SOM seems to be getting worse every day. Boo flocking hoo for me. I just am hoping for that remission again which I haven't had for the longest time since my original diagnosis. Man am I a miserable complainer.

Boo flocking hoo. Sounds like a battle cry to me. |

Hey there Tony, nice to meet you and thanks for saying hello. Interest does not equal intrusion, so no "clauses" required, such as 'since I'm new'. We've all been new here at some point, and truth be told I've not been around that long myself. I'm just a talker, kinda like those Chatty Cathy dolls when I was a kid lol. But, I age myself there, so pretend you didn't see that (wink wink...no SOM pun intended!) Whining is recommended here, in my book. See, if other people whine, then I feel perfectly comfortable whining myself. And there's a big difference between whining here and whining in the real world: these lovely people actually listen, understand, are genuinely concerned and want to help! Boo flocking hoo. Has a ring to it, doesn't it? Have we a new slogan here? :) |

And guess what else? MY COMPUTER DIED. So here I sit at my local library...providentially hindered, I suppose. Miss y'all again. Hopefully, we'll be up and running soon. hugs |

Computers are so troublesome. 'specially when you really need them. But libraries are wonderful too. I can't whine today though.
I'm working on installing a new tile floor in our upstairs bedroom. And then I cooked up the biggest pot of chicken vegetable dumpling soup I've ever made before. It makes the top 5 list of comfort foods in our house. Right up there with meatballs and lefse, mashed potatoes and gravy, and the whole ball of wax Thanksgiving Dinner. So hugs, and hot dumpling soup, to you too Angie. |

Couldn't you find real turkey or cranberries or yams? You must still be chewing last year's dinner. |

Ok I guess I set myself up for that. But I can, in fact, also make the real Thanksgiving Dinner with all the fixings. But I do need to have access to a nice bottle of wine while I'm cooking. Cheers!! |

I know what you mean. I can't cook sober, either. |

Really good turkey gravy calls for a little hit of brandy, but one year, being out of same, I just used Scotch. I always have that. It's the perfect flavor. Just dump about a jigger in while it's simmering. However, the best part is that once the bottle is out on the counter, you have to sample it. Usually a couple of samples are better than one--just to be sure it's OK, you know? I mean, maybe Scotch goes bad if its stored too long. It just seems to make the preparation go so much more smoothly. And you don't want to have a tense cook on Thanksgiving! Annie |

Go ahead and spill it! I feel the same way. Seasonal change is very hard on not only wocketty eyes but on beleagured spines. I already whined to one friend today. Am salving my spirits by making pumpkin pies from real pumpkins instead of the canned stuff--a new experiment for me. Labor intensive, but they smell heavenly now that they're baking. I thought a couple of days ago, that your new mantra, "Boo flocking hoo" could be easily converted into doggeral and set to the tune of "Who's Sorry Now?" And I cannot get it out of my head. Guess I'd better think up some more words. Annie |
