I am a new member & thought I'd share one thing that has helped me for many years. I purchased auto visor attachments that slide up or down from the existing visors. They are see-through(yellow tint) and block 100 per cent blue light. Blue light from oncoming cars, street lights, etc, at night hurts my eye & often causes a sudden episode of jerking & wobbling. This obviously interferes with driving. I also have blue-blocking sunglasses for daytime - can even wear at night & can see very well.
I cannot tolerate camera flashes, strobe lights, or any other sudden, bright light. I have even fallen down due to the sudden effect that it causes with my SOM. I'm not sure if anyone else has experienced this, as I don't know anyone else with the condition. But it has enabled me to function much better and to drive.
I purchased the visors around 1999 - 2000 from QVC - the TV shopping network. They no longer carry the product. When I did a Google search recently, I could only locate an inferior style - not a true "Blue Blocker". If the item has a green or blue tint, it is NOT a real blue blocker. It must have an orange/yellow tint.
QVC still carries the sunglasses in various styles. Their brand has a trade name: BluBlocker. When I wear them (day or night) I feel an immediate relief from strain in my eye. I am certain the glasses can be purchased elsewhere, but it must be a true "blue blocker" to really work. I think that they block both blue & violet rays, which are known to cause eye strain in "normal" people.
Hope this is helpful to someone out there.
