This is the message board where a member may share information
of a general nature about their experience with SOM.

I have created a list, drawing questions from our four, previous list pages that we used for gathering information.  There were so many pages because they were created as needed, prompted by requests for members.  Those four pages have been closed, but are being kept as an archived record of what some of our members have previously shared.  They can be found at the bottom of our left-hand menu.

I have designed the list items to be as non-identifying as possible.  There is not any place where you will be asked to identify yourself, your doctors or your location.  You might want to be cautious when adding information to the list items, but that is your decision, as always!

As for this message board, I was going to create a page for each member, but after having done that for most of our members (those who have posted sometime during their time with us), I decided that it exposed our member's nicknames in a way with which I simply was not comfortable.  After all, our member list is unavailable to the casual visitor, and whilst it cannot be for this board, it is best to minimize any potential problems.  So, I deleted all of the threads and am beginning again.

If you decide to participate in this message board, please keep in mind that it is totally voluntary; and even if you decide to do so, you are under absolutely no obligation to answer to every list item.

There are some guidelines for this message board that do not exist for any of our other ones.

  1. Members will have their own, individual threads.
  2. A member's nickname will the the subject line on her/his thread.
  3. Members are not required to have a thread.  This is strictly voluntary.
  4. Members will post only on their own, individual thread (except for this thread, which is created for anyone to communicate about this board).
  5. Members will not post on another member's thread.  This board is for the express purpose of gathering information, and is not to be used for commenting on what a member has posted in their history.  If you are compelled to do so, please take your comments to our .::Messages::.  board.
  6. Posting mistakes are going to occur and I want to let you know that mistaken posts will be deleted, in order to keep this board easy to use and read.  I hope that there will not be any hurt feelings when mistaken posts are deleted, and I want to make it perfectly clear that there is absolutely no impatience intended in the deletion of mistaken posts.  So, please do not take the deletions personally.

When, or if, you have changes in your information, it is a simple matter to just add another reply to your thread.

If you want to share information, using the new list, just let me know in this thread, and I will create a thread for you.  I have created a thread for myself to give you an idea of how the list items may be answered.  If you have questions about using this message board, this is the place to do that as well.

These are the instructions for copying and pasting the question list into the
reply that you will make in your own, individual thread.

To "copy and paste" the list of information questions, put your cursor at the  smiley face , which is at the lower-right hand corner of the list of questions.

Then left-click your mouse and drag it to the upper left-hand edge of the list, at the star

While those parts of the information are highlighted (light text, dark background), right-click your mouse and when the menu pops up, left-click and choose "Copy."

Then hit reply (in your thread's first message) and when that page loads, left-click your mouse, putting your cursor in the message space of the reply box, and left-click on the paste image in the menu of the reply box.  It is the third icon from the left, on the top row, and looks like a little clipboard with a small page on it.

You have now transferred the list to the reply box.  All that you have to do now is to left-click your mouse and place your cursor at the end of each line of the list and type in your information.

Done and done.  It took me a while, but I finally got the joke about the two needles.  Two needles????  What two needles?

Hey Juds, I would like a thread also.  And I wouldn't need help determining which needle to use, as I only see one...I just can't make it be still!  Squirrelly lil thing, it's in constant motion :)

Angie, I will do that right now.  As for you needle, I don't care how many you have/see/need/want/collect/juggle, just as long as you make sumpin' purty with it.

To make it easier for anyone to begin a thread on here, this is the information that you can copy and paste into a New Discussion thread for your very own information sharing.  If you are interested in sharing more detail regarding your SOM journey, you can post on any of the ten (10) threads on our SOM History/Data message board.  Please do not begin any additional threads on that board.

Anyway...

These are the instructions for copying and pasting the question list into the
reply that you will make in your own, individual thread.

First, begin a new thread by clicking on New Discussion.  When that message window pops up and is fully loaded, just copy, paste and fill in your information.

On the message window that you already have, just click your mouse in the message box by putting your cursor in the message space of the reply box, and left-click on the paste image in the menu of the reply box.  It is the third icon from the left, on the top row, and looks like a little clipboard with a small page on it.

You have now transferred the list to the reply box.  All that you have to do now is to left-click your mouse and place your cursor at the end of each line of the list and type in your information.

Have fun, but please consider sharing your info at SOM History/Data, as well.
