Juls, I moved your history post to the correct board. Thanks for sharing!!!! From: juls (Original Message) Sent: 8/27/2007 6:14 PM | | When my SOM symptoms began: first started in 2004, then remission until started again much worse in early 2006
When diagnosed: May 2006
Type of doctor: Neurologist
SOM eye - Right or Left: definitely in right eye, not sure about left eye
My symptoms: eye jumps up and down about once/second when having an episode and get hrrible crawly feeling in scalp which makes me want to tear my hair out. Episodes last for about 40 minutes at a time.
Symptom triggers, if any: happens when overtired or stressed.
Wear glasses? What type/kind: wear contact lens in right eye for distance vision (no need for one in left eye as can't see anything with it anyway!) and glasses for reading
Is SOM eye weaker or stronger than "good" eye?: SOM eye is my only seeing eye!

Possible connection(s) to SOM: Told eye problem has no connection to SOM but I do seem to suffer from inflammation problems a lot. My MRI scan showed there had been inflammation in the brain at some time in the past.
Current SOM status: Stable on 300mg Tegretol for last month.
Current age: 49 Gender: Female
Additional thoughts: I hope the tegretol continues to work for me even though it slows me down a lot mentally and physically. I am not at all keen to have surgery as I would worry about the fact the SOM eye is my only seeing eye and if anything happened to it I could end up blind!
How I found this support group: Searching on the web to find out more on SOM.
Have you shared this group/site with your doctor/doctors?: Recently with my GP. Have not seen my neurologist since he gave me the report on my mri scan.
