1.  When did you begin taking this med?  March 2006
2.  What was your beginning dosage (amount and number of times a day)?  100 mg, 3x/day
3.  How was your dosage increased, and to what levels?  Increase gradually (self-dosage) by 100-200 mg daily (then wait a few days to stabilize and determine effect).  Continue to increase until best balance of relief vs. side effects is achieved.   (As of posting, I'm at 300 mg 3x/day)
4.  How has this med helped/benefited you (please be specific)?  Awesome so far!  For most activities, I am having no issues.  Moderate computer usage and fatigue seem to make the symptoms come back full force at current dosage.
5.  What side effects are you having/did you have (please be specific)?  No definite side effects so far.
6.  How long have you/did you take this med?  About a month so far @ increasing dosage.
7.  If you have stopped taking this med, why did you stop?  N/A
8.  Your thoughts about your experience with this med.  -  So far, I'm happy with it.

  1. When did you begin taking this med? a year ago for wrestless leg, a few months ago for som.
  2. What was your beginning dosage (amount and number of times a day)? 300mg at bedtime, then 300 mg twice daily as needed
  3. How was your dosage increased, and to what levels?  n/a
  4. How has this med helped/benefited you (please be specific)? Upon taking a dose, if my eye is already quivering, it stops quivering within an hour.  When I take it at bedtime, I can watch tv without crooking my head and I wake up with a tolerable eye.
  5. What side effects are you having/did you have (please be specific)?  Makes me very chatty.
  6. How long have you/did you take this med? Been taking it about a year.
  7. If you have stopped taking this med, why did you stop?  n/a
  8. Your thoughts about your experience with this med. Good....not many side effects for me, and it works quickly.

Wanted to update my posting.

I ended up at 300mg 3x/day and had terrific results.  Basically no problems.  I thought I FOUND IT (for me)!

After about three months, my body apparently "got used to it" and we added more...up to 3100 mg/day.  It was no help.

We dosed down and began Topamax.  ICK  (see that Med posting)

As of 2/'07, I'm still taking 2100mg/day of Neurontin + Klonopin.

  2. What was your beginning dosage (amount and number of times a day)? For 2days 1 a day 300mgs, then 2days 2 a day 300mgs, & then 3 a day 300mgs.
  3. How was your dosage increased, and to what levels? Look above to answer #2
  4. How has this med helped/benefited you (please be specific)? I didnt notice, but I think it helped only alittle. I didnt take it long enough to see any great results.
  5. What side effects are you having/did you have (please be specific)? My hands, feet, & throat swelled up!! Not only did they swell but turned red too!! Plus, I hated feeling out of it all the time!!
  6. How long have you/did you take this med? I took it for only 1 week!!
  7. If you have stopped taking this med, why did you stop? Because of the bad side effects!
  8. Your thoughts about your experience with this med. I hated the side effects!! I just wish I could have tried it alittle longer to see if it would have helped. But from what Ive read the benefits dont last very long. Then you have to increase it & sometimes it doesnt seem to help anymore. Plus it makes you gain alot of weight.

I was started on Gabapentin 300mg twice daily.  Within a week, my eye twitching started to improve, but this only lasted for a few days.  The dose was raised to 600mg twice daily, and the twitching then rapidly became much worse, within a few days almost back to baseline.  After a week on the higher dose, I stopped the medication completedly.  Symptoms did not get better or worse after stopping the medication.
I had no signficant side effects from Gabapentin.
It was not helpful for me.

  1. When did you begin taking this med?  A couple of years after I was diagnosed, about 12 years ago.
  2. What was your beginning dosage (amount and number of times a day)?  100 mg x 3
  3. How was your dosage increased, and to what levels?  300mg x 3
  4. How has this med helped/benefited you (please be specific)?   I had immediate and total success at first.  No movement at all.  It was thrilling.  But after four or five weeks, the movement began to return.  Even with fairly rapid increases in the drug, there wasn't any improvement.
  5. What side effects are you having/did you have (please be specific)?  Initially, a little sluggishness and sleepiness.  The longer I took it and the larger the doses, the side effects became intolerable.  Even if it had continued to help, I don't think I could have gone on with it.  Forgetfulness, lack of concentration, slow motor reflexes,  lethargy.
  6. How long have you/did you take this med?  We tried for a couple of months to get it to work again with the larger doses, and it didn't.  Interestingly, I was put on it again twice for other issues (back pain) and each time, the side effects became worse and in a shorter period of time.
  7. If you have stopped taking this med, why did you stop? It was no longer effective.  Side effects would have put an end to that treatment, anyway.
  8. Your thoughts about your experience with this med.  Interesting that it has really been successful for some folks.   It must be a substance that is kind of on the right track, as it had such dramatic effect initially.  So, it was disappointing that it didn't last. It was the only medication I took--of many to follow--that ever did have any result, even if it was short-lived.

I'm heading back to my opto Dr. next week and I have to do something. I'm scared crapless of medications because of the misery Tegretol caused for me 8 years ago.
