Good
Morning Colin. To advise you that I went to the site to register & was
routed to "my Space" which was not desired. Is there another way? Regards,

Hello This message is something I feel I need to respond to. Many of you may feel that its the way things are for all Indians but I was not raised in the ways written here. My grandpa never paid or had to prove he was indian...and I will not either. If some folks live where they have to prove their nationality to be able to live on the land, I understand but my people have never had to live that way or had to prove what and who we are. I just wanted everyone to realize you dont have to register to be indian.None of my people did or ever will as they know they are who they are by having the blood of our ancestors in our veins. Thank you for reading my thoughts on this ...hugs Annie The actual Website is not hosted on MySpace. It is on a professionally managed web server. http://www.nativeregistry.com/
The Enrollment Fee Money goes like this: Labor (website [including member pages and gallery pages under development] honoring registrations.. keeping records... business-related forms etc..) Set aside for the Emergency Fund and for Establishing the Non-Profit (All members will help decide who is helped..available when registration reaches 4,000) Postage & materials (membership card.. layout... printing.. lamination... mailing..) Taxes and other government-related expenses For the future & unforseen expenses if there should be a sudden growth.
(The additonal $ for a family up to 8 will not really cover the additioonal costs if it is actually that many people . It is kind of a freebie)
Our Goals are clearly stated as far as they have been developed but we hope the new members will enrich our future-planning.
I guess that's all I have to say for now.. Looking forward to the Registry Growing and doing good things!!!

I, too ,am not registered, nor will I register. My people know who I am and they accept me as myself. I need no more than that. If I can't call myself an Indian, I can still call myself a Sokoki Abnaki, and a human being. |

I understand the feelings of those who do not wish to enrol and the valid reasons behing those emotions. However, for those who do not have strong emotions against enroling, preserving the reservations from being taken away in the future is the only concern I have. As a non NA you may feel it strange for me to be advocating this, but my wife never knew about her heritage until shortly before her death and I have made it my mission in life to educate our children about the culture they missed out on learning about. That includes doing everything I can to help preserve the NA culture and lands from disappearing. I do this in honor of my wife who meant the world to me. |
