IT WAS a hot summer day and my husband was just starting a new job operating a payloader for a construction company. He was to operate the machine by following the hand signals given by a laborer who was on the ground. After repeatedly lowering and raising the bucket, my husband finally received the signal that everything was correct. The laborer then proceeded to sit down and enjoy the shade provided by the carefully positioned bucket.
