At our new house, a space that runs the whole west side of the house, is called 2 things. It is either the AZ Room or the porch.
A week ago, it was filled with boxes, that included our fine china, books, DVDs, and various other items.
It is now, full of shelves that are full, and lots of empty space. We are searching for the perfect sitting units, so we get to winter months, we can go sit, watch sunset and drink tea/fruit juice/ pepsi and gently laugh at what has happened to our lives in less than 6 months.
We are now living in a very quiet 'village', where people are to be 55 and older, retired, and no kids or pets. There is no loud music, screaming fights, crying children, screeching tires nor police/fire alarms.
We are not yet even 55, tho my husband is 50 and I will be in Novemember. By AZ law, 15% of the village members must be under 55 so Dale and I are helping them meet the law requirments.
By and By, it is a perfect new home, with lots of wonderful items and always cool, tho the AC does not run every day. It was set up to keep cool in and heat out.
Have a wonderful 4th on your porch today
peace always

Hi I decided to come sit on the porch and hopefully catch a glimpse of some fireworks tonight! I hope some of you will join me and we can just enjoy a pleasant evening of friendly company as we watch them. I have been thinking of all of you and wonder how your weekend has been. The humidity has dropped a bit here and it has been more comfortable so that is good. Thanks for mowing the grass before the weekend "Johnboy" alias Acorn. It looks nice and makes it more enjoyable for spending an evening on the porch and in the yard. I think we will have enough homemade ice cream to go 'round by the time everyone shows up.. can't wait to have my first taste of it this year. I hope you all like either chocolate or vanilla. The bowls are all ready and waiting! I think if we take turns cranking the freezers and putting in the ice as it melts and sprinkle it with rock salt, it won't take long to be ready when we all want some. I don't think I want to go into the crowds tonight to watch fireworks so if we go out in the yard at dark and look around a bit, we will see the aerial shows pretty well. There is such a nice breeze today. I hope it keeps the evening comfortable too. Ahhh such a relaxing day. I can't wait for you to get here! I have missed you all winter!! Love ya all, Winds of Change |

Hi everyone! Wow the frontporch has been empty all summer alot. Maybe when the crisp air of the Autumn season comes, there will be a bigger crowd. lol Summer here has been so hot and humid most of the time that it is hard to enjoy time outside a whole lot most days. We have a great neighbor who brought us over some tomatoes and squash out of his garden. They are so good. He is such a nice person and helps us when he can. Its nice to be out here today in the breeze that is blowing. It's so nice to just sit and listen to nature and enjoy doing nothing, but enjoy being here. We have not been able to do alot this summer, because of Phoenix getting used to his new braces and his new wheelchair, but hopefully that will get better soon. He is remodeling his old chair and his temp one to get around in in the house and out in the yard. He saves his new chair to go places, which is good. So far we have not found a house to move to with wider doors, so maybe we are not supposed to? lol Life is funny how it does, isn't it? It keeps us guessing all of the time. I love to figure out the whys though as the questions are answered! Well, I guess I better go figure out what to have for supper, so I will catch you all later. Come on up on the porch when you have time and share your day with us. Love ya all, Winds |

ok, our new front porch is actually called an AZ room in the new(to us) village we live in now. The new home is beautiful and larger than the one we sold in Glendale, and yet the cost was much lower ! But the home in Glendale helped us find a new one, get me(Marilou) a new Kia Van and get a lift added into the back of the van.... and let Dale detail his car and get 4 new wheels, and the final thing we will buy is a refrigator with a factory installed ice maker.
I just got the lift put in today, and not still perfectly assure of what I have to do to ensure the scotter does not move. But all in all, it is very nice to have a way to use equipment that sadly I do need to be able to shop, go to malls, conferences, do almost anything out of the house.
Dream for, as I do, a summer with heat and not humidity. I have lived in AZ almost 9 years and my body now thinks 30% humidity is a killer, OW
peace for all of us

HI all:
It has been a summer where the front porch has been the last place to be....LOL!
I have, however; been blessed to have my first veggie garden in years with plum and cherry tomatoes and zuchini doing quite well. Beneath the 80 year old branches of the birch that graces our yard, I have a place to sit and not think. A place to just "be."
When in a people watching mood, I wonder to the front of the house and my glider. There I witness the changes in our world, behavior and clothing wise; as teens pass by with cell phones to the ear, or moms and dads walking the family pet. (not always a dog or cat...LOL). Public conversation has changed drastically over the years. What was once considered improper language seems to be the prominent form of communication. Young girls belly buttons are everywhere and graced with tattoos, piercings or both. Young men/boys sport oversized pants and shirts and shuffle as though one wrong move will send these embarassingly to their feet.
Yet, with all these fads some social graces remain, such as general politeness, friendliness and an occasional stranger to stranger smile.
Thanks Winds for the opportunity to join you on the front porch, it's been a pleasure.
Love and Light, starri

Hi Starri and all, As always, it's good to hear from you Starri. Oh I know what you mean about the styles and behavior and lingo. I think back to my days and how parents were {what we called} flipping out over our bell bottoms and the longer the better so we could drag them on the ground, how we would purposely rip the knees of them because that was the style. And dare even I say ... how we girls refused to wear a bra or shoes for that matter, lol. Well, after saying that I can now see what in the world my parent was trying to tell me... yes I've become my mother. I laugh so hard when I see these boys walking around with their waist line to their knees and they have to walk around holding their pants up... who knows what they would do if they needed that second hand...lol... hmmm... let's see do I let go of my pants and ohhhhh say pick up the wallet I just dropped...hahahaha... it's funny to watch them. I wonder would accidentally dropping their pants really embarass them??? LOL... They don't embarass easily now-a-days... LOL.. And the rap music... what can I say... it drives me .... but oh well, "grown ups" didn't like my rock and roll either... lol... Oh the girls and their bellies... all I can say is... I wish I still had a belly like that, LOL.... Dontcha remember when tattoos on girls were pretty much a no no... now it's all ok. The kids are interesting and really I think they are much more interesting than my generation. It's entertaining to watch them and they always make me smile. See you on the porch later on, Love in light, Dearheart |

Hi Everyone, So good to see you on the porch. Stari, our nights are getting cooler and some times you might find me there...LOL. Dearheart, you make me laugh, dear gal...heheheee. Oh how I remember those bell bottoms.... 'had some with flowers on them and I remember a couple of gals at work who did walk on theirs... the pant leg bottoms, that is.... I offered a pair of scissors but even then they scowled at me.... those were the days...heheheee. I find it interesting how each generation seems to find it's little niche' in being different and making their point/attention getting/statement in life and to the world. And it just seems to kick my pants all too further into that older generation thingie. Gosh, maybe thats why my bones now creak and if I hold my head too long sideways I just about need to manually push it straight a head...LOL. Love and light to all, ((((((HUGS)))))) and well being, inner peace, Real |

Hi all, It is great to see some sitting on the porch again. I guess my age is showing too as I remember the old styles and laugh and sometimes shake my head at the newer ones. lol I remember the bell bottoms that came in after I got out of school, but I do remember seeing the kids walking around with the bottoms of them worn out and sometimes dragging strings along as they walked. lol Of course the days of the flower children and hippies kind of passed me by as far as me getting to get into the swing of things. I was married right out of highschool and was raising children as it got interesting. lol It was kinda hard being in between the cracks so to speak.. of the old generations ways and the younger generations ways. It seemed like after I graduated things really changed drastically. My sister and brother seemed to be from a totally different generation. lol When I see how kids act today I have to stop for a moment and think back to the 50s and early 60s when even in the small town areas the guys wore leather jackets with big chains hanging from them and the girls sometimes dressed similar and in warm weather wore short shorts and mens white shirts with the sleeves rolled up and you could not tell they were wearing anything other than the shirt..lol so I guess all generations have had their shock features. lol In that time of the 50s too there were alot of gang fights or rumbles and they were not pretty. Although I think the numbers of kids who joined in on these things were alot lower majority wise back then, those things still happened. I think my age has glazed my eyes and senses sometimes at how things change and each generation has its own way of being seen and heard.. as Real said. I guess maybe I would like a little quieter statement at times. lol Love in Light and Peace, Winds of Change |
