Did they give a reason? Was it an e-mail from a person or an automated response? Get mad and follow up, use their contact link to e-mail a complaint about how this was handled, suggest that there may be a bug in their computer system since that seems to be the only logical explanation for what happened, ask them to tell you exactly why they couldn't accept your application, etc.

In other words, be a pest

Be a polite one though, there is the chance that your app fell through a crack and you don't want to totally turn them against you. If the response you get back is also rude and unsatisfactory/non-informative then go the PR route and write poor reviews of the service, letters to local papers, complaints to columnists, etc.

No, they gave no reason.  I'm not sure if it was automated or not...but they said after reviewing my application that they could no longer consider me for employment with their company.  Granted it is a bit far for me to drive BUT I may get to the point that I have to do what ever.  I don't even know what the pay scale is or anything yet.  But I may just pursue it.  It's a pride thing now.  lol.

Dede, I have not seen your resume but you might be over qualified to do the job.

Btw I have a kick ass cover letter that will get you an interveiw for almost any job you want! All the girls gave it to and that have used it have gotten an intereview, however it was up to them to win the job. If you are interested in it let me know.

I may be...but I'd expect them to tell me if that were the case.

Yes, I'd be very interested in letter.

I have sent this to select people (not trying to be picky but I have to watch who I let use it in my area. I do not want it to be over used). The girls that used it always got an interview, no question. What you do with the intereview makes or breaks the deal. Not the letter!

I am not sure what you are looking for exactly but tweak it to reflect what you want it to say!

Any questions ask away!

Your application was rejected during off-hours? Sounds to me like it's either an automated response done in error or someone unauthorized is doing it. What human resources staffs their department at 3 AM on a Sunday or whatever, you know?

I would definitely follow up. The law requires them to give you a reason for rejection if you so inquire.

I supposed it could just be the distance thing you mentioned - I have no idea how far away they actually are, but if they perceive a potential problem related to the distance, that could be why the rejection.

But if they told you that they "can not even consider" your application, yes, you definitely should inquire about that. That phrasing doesn't sound right, totally not professional, so I'd check it out.

That is an entry level position. You are definitely overqualified. Lord knows it isn't because of that fabulous resume.

I get so many resumes it's ridiculous. I don't even open their cover letters. I have no time for it.

I never sent resumes when I was working (not for myself like I do now) - I found out the office managers name, called them, and spoke directly to them. Lita knows, so much stuff goes to Human Resources and gets lost in the shuffle...I wanted to be a face they could see, as opposed to a letter. I never was turned down (I am pushy) - and anything I interviewed for I got the job.

But, that's because I am so perfect......

This wasn't me just sending a resume, this was me applying for a job that they had posted online at monster and at another site.

I'm just going to look elsewhere..its a minimum 30 miles oneway...up to 50...so not sure if it would have been feasible anyhow.  But they're still asses.
