If the body is the soul manifested...It doesn't explain birth.  Take for example, breeding for certain traits and whatnot...you can make more or less agressive traits appear through selected breeding as you can various other things such as eye color, hair types, etc etc etc...the DNA structure kinda limits that analogy...BUT on the other hand...the body can take on characteristics of the soul over a lifetime i would say. You could go even further with this...are stillborn babies constructs that never housed a soul?  When does the manifestation occur? this would lend credence to Imbas's theory of a parasite...but then you would have at one point some people who were not infected with those that are...would those that are infected with soul be "the enlightened" or would the ones infected be the ones who aren't?  You can really run into some interesting ideologies based on this actually...maybe those that are infected need to be cured<warfare maybe?> And then it kinda spirals out from there...not exactly what you meant imbas i realize...but it is an interesting take...

BTW...what definition of chaos theory are you talking about?  In the scientific world, Chaos theory kinda is interesting title because what chaos thoery generally demonstrates is that there is no randomness in nature...really it is talking about Determinism...which is that every action is a result of earlier events and actions..making it a possibility to determine the future by understanding the secondary and primary effects that effect the future event.  Which generally means that there is no randomness within the universe...everything works according to certain laws and inherent order.  The butterfly effect in other words...Anyhow...was jsut wondering because when people talk of chaos theory that is generally what i think of...

Okay... I'd like to try this again since at this point I'm fully wake. Lets see... I was lying sleepless in bed considering this parasite theory and its implications when I kind of headed off on another tangent.

What if "The body is the temple of the soul" and "Know Thyself" have a greater depth?  Consider that common belief makes our souls to be an energetic state, indestructable but transmutable. It can travel through space, time and outside our preceived reality ... we believe it changes and evolves through various existances. If this constant fluid state exists, why then would it not be possible for the soul to manifest itself at a lower(?) frequency and become matter. Body and soul are not as seperate as some religions would have us believe, consciousness is that which bridges our true soul state with its material self.

In this theory, the ego/id combination can be an automated system that the soul has created (through living experience, therefore flawed and imperfect) to drive and maintain its material existance. Think about how many things you are doing right now... things you aren't even aware of that don't require conscious descision, and still you exist. By creating the ego to be aware on the most basic survival principals, the soul has created both a way to Live & Learn and to procreate itself through bio-chemical phenomenon.. lets face it the human machine is an amazing piece of work... why mess with a working pattern, especially one designed to replicate itself in a variety of styles? Anyways... would this mean that Life would begin at conception? ... onward...

The soul needing a way to occassionally steer, influence or communicate with its mortal self and would need a common language... thus the consciousness. Through consciousness, this duality has a chance to exist and evolve through living experience, perhaps the karmic road the soul travels on this particular plain of existance ...(lol, think of how many shoes you might wear out if you walked for an eternity) and therefore we live, we learn, we (our mortal self) expires, we process our experiences in a wholly energetic state, then return through human gestation propagated by another pair of souls, in hopes of meeting our next set of needs. Choosing ones parents?

Notice how humanity has always strived to connect with our chosen godhead, we know that to be one with 'god' is to know bliss. Science has proven that an estatic state radically alters the brainwaves and the physical body (through bio-chemical release), and though it seems fleeting... we are for that brief moment, truly complete and reunited. The same energy operating at 2 different frequencies, merged to a single experience through a heightened state.... Because of these experiences we have learned that we can train our bodies and our minds to look beyound the ego and its basic state and therefore use the full potential of this living awareness to exist in a closer state of bliss..(.Love, I believe plays a key role in our existance, but I don't believe it is the only reason for our continued rebirth.) Consider we believe various states exist in consciousness... so we reach out to preceive or manipulate them guided by the souls agenda and the body's full capabilities after all don't we can create miracles in ourselves and others medically, psychically and spiritually? is there not a purpose to this self designed evolution? Genetic coding is creating memory.... bio-chemical design that creates the bio-electric state which bridges our dual state.... as Tay mentioned "Having said that though, one has to reason that this could be some sort of telepathic communication between like species, also possibly some sort of buried link in our DNA.... there are many theories."

I liked and appreciated the sentiments in the last paragraph of Tay's post...regarding death and rebirth, they really gave me a sense of 'rightness'... or is that a strangeness? lol And of course, Imbas's parasite idea obviously sent a whole series of notions working. Is it idealic to hope that we really do have this growing understanding of the human potential coupled with soul knowledge? I admit to wanting to believe that its not just more delusions to explain that which we don't know or can not verify... so, I suppose it comes around to a kind of faith... faith that there really is so much more.

Thank you, to you for these wonderful posts...I've been enjoying them emmensely.  Its a real pleasure to hear from you again Tay and I'm glad our paths have met once more. I look forward to continued discussion ... lol, if you've been through Betwixt, you'll know its no surprise that I have an opinion for just about anything!

Anyways... enough rambling.

Bright Blessings,
Red

Hey Wanduring, I guess I should have refreshed before I hit send... you must have come in when I was off washing dishes, lol. I don't know enough about chaos theories, though I've had a few recommended and there may still be a member recommendation in here somewhere...

But about the birth questions you mentioned, I thought of those while considering my theory. First, yes I do think a stillborn is an unhoused or unmanifested soul... a chemical gestation of energy being prepared for a transfer to another of its kind(?) that fails to occur.

I also think that a body does take on physical characteristic of its soul, just as the material form affects how the soul experiences Life in its current existance... genetics would carry a good bit of weight in this as well. But on the other hand I believe our need to create designer children is a little to ego driven... granted the children we wish to create are all intelligent, strong, graceful, and beautiful... looks like a plan to try and by-pass (or sidestep?) evolution.

Blessings,
Red

So my question once again is when does the transfer occur?  And are there bodies roaming the world without this transfer? are they less human?
As for bypassing evolution...it isn't really...it is using natures laws...no different than say growing a garden...improving the species that already exist to be more hardy...more fruitful...etc...now some would say it is unnatural...but is it anymore unnatural than natural selection? Or is it exactly natural selection...finding a trait you like and increasing it's potential to spread..you see this all throughout the animal kingdom.  We still are in the dark about alot of stimuli that effects us as humans.

Chaos, Wanduring.... How do I put this.. okay, just when we 'think' we understand the order of things and the factors that contributed to being, another factor is added to or removed thus changing the equation. So it is random, but in randomness there is order until factors are shifted which disrupt the present order. Does that make any sense at all?

here's a quote:
This phenomenon, common to chaos theory (butterfly effect), is also known as sensitive dependence on initial conditions. Just a small change in the initial conditions can drastically change the long-term behavior of a system. Such a small amount of difference in a measurement might be considered experimental noise, background noise, or an inaccuracy of the equipment. Such things are impossible to avoid in even the most isolated lab. With a starting number of 2, the final result can be entirely different from the same system with a starting value of 2.000001. It is simply impossile to achieve this level of accuracy - just try and measure something to the nearest millionth of an inch!

and another quote here helps me out a bit.

The Koch curve brings up an interesting paradox. Each time new triangles are added to the figure, the length of the line gets longer. However, the inner area of the Koch curve remains less than the area of a circle drawn around the original triangle. Essentially, it is a line of infinite length surrounding a finite area.

Fractal dimensions was how the mathematicians got around the problem, but the Koch curve they say falls somewhere around 1.26. Fractual they go on to say, has come to mean any image that displays the atrribute of 'self-similarity' this links back to what I was saying in the previous post about replication.

Fractal structures are all about finding similarities or commonalities, yes, there you are correct, but simply because something follows a pattern on its own, like the dripping water experiment, that doesn't take into account outside influences. Changes in the line water pressure for example, would have changed the rate of the drip.

So I guess we have to agree to disagree on this one because I can see your point, but I still find that whatever we do, and yes sometimes whatever we think, affects the outcome of certain events, but by the same token I have to admit that our choices are what dicate our futures. To me the butterfly effect perfectly illustrates why we can't change things but only flow with them.

Good chat, Thanks!
Tay

Red,
Thank you, it's good to see you in print again also and yes, I had noticed and I've very much enjoyed my brief visits here however brief and strangely though I'm of late as busy as a one-legged man in an a** kickin' contest, I've been drawn back to the messages here again and again, reading through post after post with glee (G)!

In my late night admissions I give you this, I too hope there is a 'reason' that there is 'more' than this material reality and I have reason to believe there is, but I wrestle with my logical mind often and have no idea how I'd catagorize myself if put to the test religiously because I'm an avid despiser of religion, even though the study of it fascinates me to no end and science has become the newest of our religions. Even that puts a bad taste in my mouth. After all, science is only a grouping of theories that attempt to define life, every 10 to 20 years a theory is sucessfully challenged and science finds itself forever changed by the new findings and a new 'sci-religion' is born and having said this we arrive back at the vicious circle of a question, what is truth??? Is it really different for us all? Personally this takes me back to yet another theory, that of relativity, the truth as we percieve it is relative to the conditions and manner in which we live. So having said all of this, being a victim of severe adjectivitis admittedly! We have to live by one rule foresaking all others....

To thine ownself be true!

Ain't life grand! (G)

When does the transfer occur?... well wouldn't that decide the abortion debates? if we actually knew when spiritual life exists in the womb, we would be looking at some interesting philosophical and moral issues.

There are no empty shells running around... those are stillborn. Although there are damaged souls and dark souls... they all exist in their human selves. Less human by what standards? spiritual or physically?

Tay ... Glad you're enjoying your visits :) And I understand what you're saying about science... for me its a great leveler on the field of religion and faith has occassionally taken a beating, when I let science in on it.

Soooooo, my very simple theory, is not so simple eh? I suppose what I need to do is go through this thread and write down all the questions. They would be the chapter titles in the book. Just a couple of comments at this time, on Chaos theory. My understanding of Chaos refers to the spontaneous appearance of noise in every object at the mathematical, and atomic level. At the atomic level it is nearly impossible to predict anything, due to the nature of noise, though it is somewhat possible to predict when the noise will appear, and when stepping back far enough, it is difficult to even see the abnomilty. This is the reason we cannot really ever predict the weather, a molecule wobbles somewhere and poof, the whole equation changes. Now, just for giggles, mix in the quantum theories, and, all of sudden, that molecule that wiggled, may have wiggled because, someone, somewhere, wished for rain. Consciousness collapsing probability into actuality!

Tay, The Koch Curve is pretty cool, I was thinking of doing a glass piece like it at one point! As far as the scientific always moving 2 steps forward and 1 step back...still one must look at the forward motion and not get discouraged by the steps back. As the tools get better, we do get closer to seperating out the mythology. I still like the relative simpleness of a parasitic explanation. And I'm not ready to accept that gene theory. I still think it all has to do with being colonies of Atlantis!

Red, I am now in the chapters attempting to explain how the physical self can take on characteristics of past lives. It is much more convoluted than one would think, but it has to do with the context of the experience, not so much the experience. For example, your drowning fear, could be somehow related to purposely not doing what you should have done at the time, therefore the quantum monad was not collapsed. Past life regression therapy seems to work because it gives the consciousness another chance and the ability to collapse the monad again without the fear. Now the context is in order, and that phase is over. I'll have to reread this chapter a few times for it all to sink in. lol

Anyway, this has been a great discussion so far, and I'll have more questions on it I'm sure!

Imbas,
On the genetic theory, I didn't buy it either until I delved into DMT the spirit molecule and the Cosmic Serpent, but those two caused my molecules to wobble! LOL

Now explain this Atlantian theory of yours (WEG)

Wanduring,
I've wondered about when the 'soul transfer' occurs myself and I've met people in my lifetime who caused me to wonder if they were 'skipped' so to speak. I've heard it surmised by many of the religious that it occurs at birth however I'm not sure I believe that either, some part of me believes it happens as a spirit chooses its conception and I realize that cannot be proven.

I would have to agree with you on genetic programming, as we bred birds for many years in effort to bring about specific traits and reduce others and many horticulturists and husbandry experts practice the same thing daily. I feel that it can make a species stronger, however it can be argued that it weakens species as well, but that's according to poor science IMHO. As usual the few screw it up for us all. This hearkens back to the cloning issue for me, because for many reasons I agree with the experiment if for nothing other than to cure diseases. Finding those weaknesses in the DNA and correcting them I feel is a great thing, the great work so to speak, but there of course are those religious fanatics who want to argue that it's playing god and they too would be correct, because there are the fanatic scientists who would love nothing more than to assume a position of godhood! OY.

On the stimuli, for years doctors have worked on me because I have some strange nerve problems, shafts of the nerves are forming lumps and I respond differently to pain and pleasure than others, certain things that should hurt me don't and strange sensations occur on the surface of my skin when the touch should be pleasurable. Pain occurs at times when certain areas of my skin are stroked and other times I enjoy the stimuli. I'm beginning to think it's not merely physical.

I also have a sleep disorder that stymies me and my family doc. For many years I've tranced and I've been doing it since childhood, so now it's so bad that when I sleep, I trance and I can't hear normal household noise like alarm clocks! I block it out and an alarm clock won't wake me, but an unusual noise like someone coming through the door, or something being dropped or knocked over will wake me. The problem is, I need to hear an alarm clock but I can't figure out how to resolve the problem, so I either have someone call me to wake me up and yell on my answeing service or they have to physically come in and wake me. So what some would call a skill, has become for me a disability. I'm reasonably sure that the reason lies within a severe childhood trauma for me, but no amount of introspection and examination has done to solve the problem. I've had to develop a sleep pattern that allows me to get up within 7 hours and within the last year I've done pretty well with that, the only problem with this method is being tired enough at the proper time to go to sleep, so I've limite my caffiene intake to half and if I have an early appointment coming up, I work for a few days beforehand to control my schedule. It's a quandry that there seems to be no answer for.

I read somewhere in a thread about the chemical stimuli the brain sends to the limbs stopping movement creating a paralyzed state during sleep, that doesn't happen for me either, I suffered extreme night terrors for years, sleep walking and fighting in my sleep, my brain did not stop sending chemical signals to my limbs, but as I have aged these events have decreased, occurring only two to three times a year now rather than three or four times a week.

If anyone else reading this thread has suffered sleep disorders of the like, I'd love to hear from you and hear what if any solutions you've found to your problem.  My sleep most of the time is not restful, I'm travelling during sleep most of the time and probably remember more dreams than I should and I should mention that I'm lucid most of the time. To get a truly restful sleep, I have to be sleep deprived for a few days beforehand, in other words, I have to be completely exhausted to the point of near falling down. So ANY suggestions would be helpful. I have tried hypnosis, it doesn't work, sleep aids leave me too groggy the next day. Regimines don't seem to work either.....

Red,
I agree, science and logic have paralyzed me at times with regard to the spiritual. I always say that this is the reason ignorance must be bliss! I wonder, does living in the infomation age kill spirituality? Was the quote 'as pearls before swine' a mere slander of the common people or does knowing that man created god in his own image and vice versa, kill faith?

I must admit that my knowledge of how religion came about and how politics drives it, does sometimes hinder me in my ability to connect to the spiritual. I have to work really hard in psyching myself out sometimes and then other times I am so awed by the wonder of the natural world that spiritual impetus simply happens. It's hard for me sometimes to remember just to 'be' in the moment, hence the exercise I metion in another thread here somewhere.

Well now, Tay...speaking my language there.  I have had the sleep disorder of night terrors all my life...Come and goes usually having an episode every month or so for about a week...where I end up becoming something of an insomniac til it stops...I have been in the whole paralyzed state...and the mobile state...I have no clue whatsoever what triggers this...I actuallyhave gotten to the point where a compartmentized part of my brain during the dream is fully aware of exactly what it is that is going on...and laughing hysterically at the ridiculousness of it, while the rest of my mind is jsut plain freaked.  I have noticed that covering my head when I sleep tends to limit all but the most strong of these episodes...which is interesting...alot of study has been done on this and not too much really helpful info out there.  I have NEVER taken sleeping aids.<being of the mind that sees things of that nature as a crutch rather than a real benefit>
On a side note I don't make the best sleeping partner...being VERY mobile sometimes during a night terror. <things like seeing things in the dark while in the awake but still dreaming state and attacking em rather forcefully...I tend to have two reactions to fear..run if i can attack if I can't run>  So anyone in the house is always warned NEVER to approach me when sleeping. Is a real bad beat, but hey...not much i have found to deal with it.  And it is hereditary as well it seems...generally through the scandanavian bloodlines<interesting that>.  As a kid I truly thought I was being harassed by demons.  Parents never really understood the trauma of what I was going through until recently.  As I got older I did some research on the subject and found alot on sleep paralyzation and Night Terrors.  Most Sleep disorder studies place sleep paralyzation and night terrors as the same thing.  Which they aren't, have experienced them both.  With sleep paralyzation your mind wakes up before the body does<simply put>, which generates feelings of dread and anxiety that are overwhelming until your body is forced to wake up.  With night terrors you wake, but are still in a deep dream state, seeing halucinations and whatnot...the same feeling of dread and helplessness is there, but rather than being paralyzed you are completely ambulatory...which is jsut plain creepy.  In this state i have been accosted by a host of various things of different natures...as a kid it was "faces in the dark" or monstrous things... As an adult the faces in the dark  changed into faces of the dead close to me and the monstrous things are sitll there...not to mention other things.  When explaining this to some peopel they think you are just having a nightmare...well...they are nightmares...but a full body nightmare...Generally only waking from these nightmares when you have done something that causes you extreme pain..whether phantom pain generated by the dream<btw... the phantom pain remains...take one example, I was gut shot in one episode and had to run five miles with a gutshot...sucked as i was dying, i woke up clutching my abdomen in extreme pain that lasted about 10 or 15 minutes but nothing wrong with me other than ina head> or something simple as running into battle going to take out something nasty and end up smacking yourself into a wall or kicking something rather hard and painful.  Is rather interesting or would be if i didn't have to deal with this all my life...
Okay...solutions i have read or heard:
1: sleeping with head covered<done this since i was a wee tot>...seems to be a age old remedy for being hag-ridden
2: NEVER sleeping on your back<I have found that most episodes start with being flat out on your back>
3:Force yourself awake...even if you freak out people in the house by screaming at the top of your lungs "WAKEUPWAKEUPWAKEUP"
4:Learn to live with it

All in all, I have found that nothing really works 100 percent of the time...you jsut learn to deal and limit injuries to you and yours.  Anyhow...sucks...

Wanduring and Tay... the two 'sleep' posts have been moved to their own thread... I too would like to discuss sleep since its a major issue in my own life. I'll add my 2 cents once I've gotten both sleep and free from a marathon headache. Anyways, I came back to this thread looking for the breathing counts that Tay mentioned for pain management and got sidetracked, lol
