Wow the last month in 2005! Someone told me they had all their gifts bought and wrapped! ~sigh~ And were disgustingly cheerful that we are getting a bunch of snow right now. I'm not a scrooge because I love Christmas and trying to find the right gifts for people. but I hate cold and snow. One of the best Christmases we ever had was in California one year. It was 70 degrees outside and we ran around in our shirt sleeves. It felt just as Christmasy as ones with snow! Tomorrow is a marathon shopping trip for food. I'm doing a lot of baking this year and we need to stock up on pet food as well .so if the roads are clear we're heading to Omaha! Peggy how is your bird room coming along ?I can't wait to see pictures of the finished product!!Abby I'm so glad your dad had fun on his birthday! The food sounded pretty yummy. Too2 did you find a use for all that jello?? So what is Santa going to give your birds this year??? |

It feels like I've done nothing but make cookies for the last couple of days... One good thing about it - my pc sits near the kitchen so inbetween batches, I get to hang out! Nice to see so many of our original members again! Time brings on changes for all but it is comforting to hear that most are still popping in from time to time. Christmas is just a few days away! My list is getting shorter and .....Nan, Rach.....10 hours of sleep sounds WONDERFUL! However..........we have birds. Crystal |

Well, I'm still rushing around trying to find Christmas presents! Every year I swear I'll do my shopping earlier, but ... I did start early, I just should have finished early too! I can't believe that I'm leaving for the Mainland Saturday morning, and I'm still not done!! Abby |

Merry Christmas to everybirdie!!!! Hope you all have a great Holiday. I bought myself a lovely present. She is a 5wk old blue merle Great Dane. Years ago I used to raise them and I've wanted another one for so long. She is unnamed as yet. Billy and I are going over to Beckys to spend the night since David always gets us up so early. Then we are eating out tomorrow. There will be no snow for us this year. It's in the 70s daytime. It is supposed to be a beautiful day though. Everyone have fun and stay safe. Peggy and critters. |

Merry Christmas, Everyone!!! Basil and Beau travelled well. I had to drive them out to Mission after the ferry ride and leave them with Dale, then drive back to Vancouver to my son's home. I had a wonderful time yesterday and this morning with younger son Jason, his wife Kate, her brother James, and their mother, Sandra. Travelled out to Mission again around noon, and I am at Carol's now just waiting for Mr. Turkey to be cooked to perfection. After dinner today, I'll go back over to Dale's. I'll use his place as my home base for the next few days. I hope I'll have an opportunity to stop in again in the next day or two and say hi! I hope you are all enjoying your day. If you do any travelling, please be safe! Abby |

Good Morning Everyone Boxing day is the day after Christmas. This is celebrated in England, New Zealand, Australia and Canada. In modern times it is a time of complete relaxation after all the stress of Christmas........ but this is what my search brought up for its origins. The holiday's roots can be traced to Britain, where Boxing Day is also known as St. Stephen's Day. Reduced to the simplest essence, its origins are found in a long-ago practice of giving cash or durable goods to those of the lower classes. Gifts among equals were exchanged on or before Christmas Day, but beneficences to those less fortunate were bestowed the day after. Have a lovely Day all Joy | |

Hope everyone had a happy Christmas day. Thank you for the information about Boxing Day, Joy. It was interesting to read that Boxing Day is to be a day of relaxation. In the US, it is the day to buy after Christmas bargins, so some are out there shopping rather than relaxing. My mom, brother and I went to a church service on Christmas, then went to mom's house for dinner, watching football games and opening presents. We had a good day. My dad passed away in September, so this is our first Christmas without him. Happy New Year from my cockatiels, dogs, cat and me to everyone, everybirdie and every furred, scaled and quilled creature! Kathy |
