I thought I'd use this wonderful pic for our Dec Whistle... And it's hard to believe only 24 shoppings days left... Today we have a warm and sunny start to December... the hurricane season is over and we made it through this year with flying colours... My gripe (and not at the lack of hurricanes) is how many people gave up their homes due to the high cost of insurance which is based on predictions, mine jumped to a hefty 3,000 a year, this being the third increase in 24 months and the experts responsible for predictions messed us up... We need new experts as this guy has been wrong for the third year.... Maybe we'll get a break and the forecast for the coming year won't be so radical... hopefully!! and no more increases.... Then Santa might have a chance to visit the feathered flock and ME!! OK let's go ahead and show off all our Christmas and seasonal Gif's... I'll be looking mine out and showing them off.... |

I'm glad they liked it. I bet they'd like the Cranberry Salad, too. It is so sweet. Mine is the same as Goodbird's except we don't add walnuts. Our commonly available nut is pecan, but we leave those out. I have had it with 3 meals in a row. My dear daughter made a soup tureen full. What was that girl thinking? Leftovers, I guess. It stays good for a long long time. Annie |

Rain off and on here, but the lake level is up. Puppy won't leave the lights of the tree alone, so taking it down early. Will leave the two table top trees up until New Years though. Them I don't have to take apart to put away. Split pea soup is simmering on the back burner, and it's a good day to hibernate a bit. |

The hashbrown casserole sounds yummy, something that I would eat in days gone by and enjoy immensely. If I ate that much margarine these days, I would regret it immensely. One of the pluses in being intolerent of fats these days is finally being able to loose a little weight! It is 23 degrees here, with 5 inches of snow. The wild birds are really happy to find full feeders and a sack of birdseed on the ground. Kathy |

It wasn't bad here today; in the 40's. Could be worse I just talked to a friend. She had just come home with a large pizza for the family, and before they could sit down to eat, they heard a loud crash. The neighbors garage door had broken a spring, and came crashing down - luckily the car was out of the way by then. They all went out to see if everyone was okay, and when they got back in, their dog (a fairly large mixed breed) had eaten the whole pizza. Cracked me up. |

Oh man, Maggymay.....that just kills me...the dog eating the pizza. I wonder what he was thinking all the while....something like....I gotta hurry before they get back....is that them I hear coming? .....scarf...snarf..slurp burp. I bet the look on their faces was priceless....a real Kodak moment! Reminds me of when Deb and I were kids and this was while we lived in the woods of Florida. We had raised some Black and Tan hunting dogs and for the most part they stayed outside. Mom had baked me and Deb a nice chocolate cake for our birthday and set it up on a high counter. She wanted to take us to town to get us new pairs of shoes and when we got back......there was no chocolate cake but a brown smear the went down the side of the cabinet...and one very full sleeping dog under the table. We couldn't believe he ate the whole thing and didn't get ill.....I bet his tummy was hurting though. |

Dale, practically every dog we've ever had has sneaked something chocolate....I think our Sheltie once at most of a chocolate cake with chocolate icing too. And chocolate is supposed to be really bad for them, and it never fazed any of them. And I can just see Scout scarfing up that pizza real quick. I know my dogs would try if they got the opportunity, and they're just little weenie dogs. You'd think we starve them, the way they act around "people" food. And we don't deprive them of people food....they get little bits of it, as long as they stay within their weight range. |

Poor Apollo has never ever sampled human foods as Mike just will not let him have a taste... he's such a stickler for diets... and the same with the birds... When he isn't looking tonight they can have a piece of my Dominoe's pizza.. This is the very last thing I'll have to say in the Whistle for this year... see y'all next year... and have a great an safe New Year.... Blessings to all humans, feathered and furries who are our BB family... |

I am posting in Dec Whistle and if I don't forget I will post just after midnight in the January 2008 Whistle. I need to write 2008 on all my checks tonight so I don't mess up for the first half of the year. Gonna be cold for the special NY Eve party in OKCY tonight. Will be nice indoors at home where I plan to be. Be safe if you are planning to go byebye tonight. Annie |

I'm ending up the year quietly, with my online friends! Later, I'll go to bed when I start falling asleep over the keyboard (usually sometime between 8:00 to 11:00), and read my book for a while. This year has been one of loss for my mother's side of our family. Cousin Gladys of cancer last February, then her mother, Aunt Vi on Dec 19, and then Cousin Marjorie on Dec 28, another of Vi's girls, died of a heart attack at only 62 years of age. My poor mother was really shaken when her sister, Aunt Vi went, but Marjorie's passing has really been hard on her. Marjorie and I were very close when we were younger, as she is only a year older than I am. It's really hard to believe that she is gone. I was going to go over to the Mainland this past weekend, and stay for a few days as I'm off for this week. But I've decided that I'm just going to stick around home. I'm hoping to have each of my grandgirls over for a sleepover on different nights this week. Abby |

You will really enjoy having those grands over and I bet they will love being with you! I think it's neat you are so close as to be able to do that. I sure hope this next year brings with it a lot of joy for you and your family. We're spending the time right at home too....no celebrations..well....we talk about the future and stuff like that..but no partying. We'll just enjoy being here and in comfort. |

Shelley called me shortly after she got off work at 6:30PM to see if I was in my party clothes yet. Told her I was just as gussied-up as she was....sweats and warm furry slippers. Party animals we aren't! Can't wait to snuggle in bed with my book. di |
